well im officially on my 3rd dell u27 in the past month, first two lasted about 2 weeks.have the third one coming in the mail in a couple days. im pretty fed up with this to say the least, kinda hard to believe i got two lemons in a row, but i guess tht is the case and dells quality control is well BAD, but any feedback or any one who has experienced something similar and would like to tell the tale im all ears.

I'm surprised, tho we don't recommend the 27", I'm surprised to hear your experience, so what is the problem again? (sorry, I don't recall, I read so many posts a day, it gets difficult to remember details for all)

well its hard to explain, first one it would load to desktop but with distortion, light colors where almost florescent looking, and with lines apparent especially in the bright colors, second one wouldn't load at all just a black screen colored lines going from the top to bottom. both lasted about the same time about 2 weeks, kinda hard to think i got two lemons in a row, i do live in Florida where its humid idk if tht could be the reason for this, but i highly doubt it. computer has been running great, so i would think if it was something environmental the computer would have some ill effects as well.

on the reason y u dont recommend the 27 is confusing, i had the chance to get the 30 but for 3 more inch for 500+ dollars just didn't seem reasonable to me. as this monitor has a excellent picture res) its also tough to imagine the difference in res would really would b noticeable, so tht was my reason for goin with this monitor.

but with these last 2 monitors crappin out on me u would think i would have the opportunity to upgrade to the 30 for free cuz this is just ridiculous to say the the least.

The 30" Dell U3011 goes on sale often, sometimes as low as $1124 (example).

i understand they go on sale is tht the only reason y some1 would recommend it? if so thn y dont recommend every1 cuz they all go on sale. even the 27 goes on sale...just for the reason that it goes on sale doesnt lean me towards any particular monitor...but any who thats here nor their...whats done is done and i own the 27, i would like to know if this has happened to any1 else or any suggestions on what i should do atm. i cant say i am optimistic that the third monitor will be any different, and if that is the case should i call them and demand a refund, should i ask for a different model ..?? idk im pretty lost and frustrated at this point..

The reason Dragoon is telling you that the 30" goes on sale is because he has that monitor and we have not had any complaints on that monitor and for that amount of money the 30" is a better choice anyways.

If you are not happy and the third monitor is not working right either, I would ask for a refund, and wait and get the 30" on sale for $1100 range.

I would very much like to hear from anybody that is having any problems with the 27" also.

maybe it is your environment, pc parts and monitor parts are totally different, but till we know for sure, we can't say, but if it is something like that, then no matter which size you get, you should have the same problem.

I hate it when crap like this happens, I feel your frustration, you got your mouth all juiced up for some great gaming on a great monitor, and instead this is what you got to deal with.

any1 know if theirs some sort of app tht reads outside temp and also humidity. just to check the temp and humidity of outside the comp. might be a dumb question but worth a shot. because on the dell site there is a humidity lvl in wich these monitors can operate in. 10%-80% operating (non condensing)  non operating 5%-90%, whatever the hell this means i have no idea lol, any feedback would be awesome

idk if humidity is the problem i mean i did open the windows to air the room out a couple times, i also have the air conditioning on all the time while i game and such for the most part, i would think the ac would cut the humidity down some but idk, guess im gonna look into a dehumidifier and see if tht changes things, still kinda hard to believe tht humidity would leave a monitor not able to load or nothing second one wouldn't load just blank screen with colored vertical lines. anyways have the third one arriving tomorrow, mayb third time is a charm im hoping anyways xD

at least i can say the comp has been running excellent, beyond my expectations for sure. on tht note i want to look into oc these evga 570's should i go with precision or afterburner for this just in-case i choose to do so..? and for fan settings im looking to change as well, need to know how to do this so my fan speeds go up gradually, i seen on a thread some1 explaining how to change speeds on a curve or w/e idk if thts right but would like some feedback.

I live in Florida as well, the humidity isn't an issue unless you're letting it get extreme like to the point of condensation forming on it or something.

I'm leaning toward the u27 over the u30 because for some reason, the black bars just bother me in a 16:10 format when gaming!

What? There are no black bars. I've been gaming at 16:10 for like 6 years, Ive yet to see a game that did 16:9 resolutions but not 16:10 resolutions. There are some older games that don't want to do widescreen resolutions at all (without widescreen hacks) and those will just stretch to fit, but they'll stretch less on a 16:10 monitor than a 16:9 monitor.

All you do is pick 16:10 resolutions when playing on a 16:10 monitor, 1680x1050, 1920x1200, 2560x1600, etc. Where as on a 16:9 monitor you pick 16:9 resolutions 1600x900, 1920x1080, 2560x1440, etc.

Oh! you're right, I just went and watched a Youtube movie, and I have small black bars on the top and bottom if I fullscreen it. I've literately never noticed that before, I had to go check just to confirm.

So I suppose fullscreened 16:9 movies will you give small black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. I don't find them annoying, I've never see them personally, but if you watch a lot of fullscreened movies maybe it it might bug you. Won't happen in games though.

Really!? that is good to know! Everytime I see someone playing with the u30 it always show black bars and people say keep that into account when buying it!

Well i might just have to consider the u30 now! Now I have it narrowed down to the u30 or 3x u23's...

I dont see how any of you are complaining about "black bars". That's like saying oh im mad at a video editor for not rendering a video clip to my monitors native resolution. A video thats rendered at 1280x720 will not display correctly... just as monitors are 16:10, and 16:9.
