I was just wondering if 3x 285 gtx cards give out more performance than 2x 295 gtx cards. Please give me your two cents on this, because If the 285s in tri sli are better I'll switch to those. I ordered my computer a few days ago and they havn't started building it yet. I still have time to change things around.

You can check out my exact build right here. Ticket: 276218

If I were you, I would have gone with Mushkin instead of Corsair, but not a big deal. Also a lot of people here wouldn't recommend a 1tb hd since it gets difficult to maintain.

I don't really know much about your GPU question though. I do know that in non-sli games the 285 would perform better than the 295.

Why Mushkin over Corsair? And what do you mean by maintain?

1TBs take alot longer to scan/ and have normal seek time meaning they can drag  when it starts getting full

i think DS has direct partnership with mushkin so youd have less chance of getting a bad batch of memory and it wuldnt take to longto replace if u did

Mushkin has less chance of failure, and you are wasting your money on 1600Mhz vs 1333MHz.

also should have gone with a SSD, veloci in raid still is no where near the seektime of SSD, you could have raided 2 x 120GB of vertex your self and your seektime, read and write would have blown the veloci raid away.

3 x 285 in some games is 5fps faster then 2 x 295

3 x 285 in some games is 5fps slower then 2 x 295

3 x 285 in some games is even with 2 x 295

your best bet here is to go Tri sli 275 you get the best performance vs price with that.

If costs do not matter, I would go with 2x 295- They will take up 1 less pci-e slot so that you can throw in a sound card and/or something else (NIC etc).  Ultimately, you're going to get a pretty sick performance with any of the setups DST mentioned above, so I guess, like he said, it all comes down to price vs. performace.

honestly if cost didn't matter I like the 2 x 295 myself, and I'm not just saying that because of folding, one of the reason I like it is because of taking only 2 PCI slots.
