Can you cast in 4k to a 4k tv?  Yes?

Best thing to do would probably be to use a media server to stream content to your TV.  Regardless of if you're using something like google to cast things or a media server like Embry or Plex, you're going to run into transcoding issues.  Most 4k content on your PC is too high of a bitrate for your tv's not so great processor.  You can fix this by doing live transcoding, but it's going to tax your CPU pretty intensely.  That's why something like a nvidia shield + Plex would best for streaming content from your PC to your 4k TV.

Plex and Embry are both free. I personally prefer plex.  But that's because I offload my old GPU's into my plex server to help with hardware encoding/transcoding.  Both are free.

But if you're wanting to stream 4k movies from your PC to your TV, you'll probably want to pick up a nvidia shield, or any console capable of 4k resolution, or Amazon Fire TV/Apple TV... etc.

I love Plex.  I run it in a Chenbro 4U 24 bay chassis with dual E5-2695V2.  I threw in my old unused 980 Ti to help with hardware transcoding and I can now stream ~15 4k > 50Mbps bitrate movies transcoded down to 480p before there's even a slight buffer.
