Hi all, and thank you for your time. I have found this forum to be a fantastic wealth of information as I ordered my first two DS gaming rigs. I am looking for a great gaming monitor and was hoping for input. My setup (when it arrives, hopefully early Feb.)
-Velox Tower, 5.1 Ghz overclocked Intel CPU, 32 GB Corsair Dominator RAM, Nvidia GTX 2080 TI video card.

I have a dual monitor setup. I currently have available to me the Alienware AW3420DW curved monitor and Alienware AW2720HF, along with a Samsung LU28H750UQNXZA as the secondary monitor. For years, I have used Dual Samsung U28D590D running 4K UHD. Since I am stepping up to a new DS box with the 2080TI I thought it would be the perfect time to add great new gaming monitors as well, though the games I play right now do not need anything close to the machine I am buying, however, I would like to be able to experience some of the next generation of games if one catches my interest, running it at full spec at 4k, with fast response times, and at least 144hz refresh rates.

Here is the rub for me. I bought the two Alienware monitors noted above and they are very nice, but each presents a slightly different problem for me. First, the 3420... For my desk setup, it is just too big for where I need to sit to comfortably use my keyboard, which has me constantly turning my head side to side to take in the full screen while gaming, so I have moved it to my secondary gaming system (Razer Blade 15 with the 2080 max q.) It works extremely well there and is beautiful.

Secondly is the 27 incher - it just feels too small when gaming. And the 1920 x 1080 resolution does not look good compared to my 28" Samsung 4k screens when I am not gaming.

I am looking for that Unicorn of a 28-32 inch 4k monitor to pair with my Nvidia RTX 2080 TI system that will take advantage of the G-Sync, IPS, 4K resolution, 144HZ or faster refresh rate, and fast response time (possibly 1MS if exists...).

When I have done my research around best 4k gaming monitors, I see a lot of recommendations for 27 inch monitors. I already know that is too small. I see the Acer Predator XB321HK, but it has 60HZ, 4MS response time. The closest I see to the specs I want is the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ, but have concerns about the 27" size being just too small. I am not a price sensitive shopper, but really want to find a great monitor to pair with this amazing system I am investing in. Thank you in advance for your wisdom. Please let me know if I have left out any information that would be helpful in formulating your recommendations.

Side question - on my current PC, I have a GTX 1080 card that I added the 27" Alienware monitor to using display port, the Samsung using HDMI is the second screen. I see the monitors essentially go black for a few seconds randomly when I use them. I have read that can be a problem with IPS monitors. I never saw that prior to adding the Alienware. Any ideas? I have updated the driver and Nvidia software.

Last time I looked, there were exactly two 4K computer monitors capable of delivering more than 60 Hz. One is the Asus you mention, and Acer has one similar. They are both 27". Did you notice the price?

To spend what you did on the 2080Ti and then throw another $1500 or so on the table to get high fps on a 27" screen is... well....

When you cram all those pixels into such a small space, you don't get much for your money, it's that simple. 1440p, which is what you have in that Alienware, gives you a pretty darn fine resolution at that monitor size as it is, and high fps.

What you really need to get much out of 4K gaming is about a 40" TV (or larger) that can deliver a true 120 Hz. Anything smaller is a very poor return on investment IMO.

BTW, any advertised TV that claims more than 120Hz is a gimmick. Software interpolation or black frame insertion, etc.
