Hey guys,

This is sorta a continuation from my discussion in the configuration thread but basically I want to know if I need a sound card to run 5.1 or if I can use the stock.

what motherboard?  most motherboards made any time recently usually support up to 7.1

edit- if your configuring a computer now, u def will not need a sound card to run 5.1

Hey rice he is looking at one of the x58 evga boards that do have 7.1.

Yeah the newer boards can.. But if you have a "nice" 7.1 setup, why not just get a sound card?
