Say you got dropped on your head a lot as a child, and won the lottery later in life. Regardless of sanity, good taste and monetary limitations, could one build a system with five graphics cards?
IE, 4 x 480s in SLI, and then another as dedicated PhysX? Or is there just not enough room on a mobo? |

Physx card is just marketing, unless you just love to play mirrors edge with a couple small effects. lol most physics are done with Havoc, and that uses the CPU only.
3 GTX 480's is all you want. quad scaling sux, and more than 4 is not supported at all.
for folding yes, you can use more than 4 cards, but not gaming... stick to 3 cards for maximum gaming power.

As I understand it poor 4-way performance is mostly a consequence of:
nVidia drivers not well developed for 4-way/quad SLI Games not taking advantage of tri or quad/4-way sli As far as PhysX, I've seen benchmarks that seem to show a decisive advantage, at least in some games, with a dedicated PhysX card. Surely more games will start to take advantage of it? Feel free to demolish my ignorant preconceptions :P Also, I want to ask about "microstuttering,' especially beyond dual SLI, how big of an issue is this? Will it be fixed or alleviated somewhat when nVidia drivers mature? Edited by Rivenloch - 31 Jul 2010 at 7:36pm |

there are maybe 2 decent games that used Physx,, and that is a stretch. lol I doubt there will be very many games in the future that will use it. especially any decent games. lol

WHOA WHOA.......WHOA! There were 3 decent games that used physx sir lol I know that they were Batman: Arkham Asylum, Ghost Recon advanced warfighter 2, and Mirrors Edge. Ill allow 4 If you enjoyed Unreal Tournament 3. But yeah I never really saw a point in physx....Or 3d very much. maybe Im just weird.

Arkham Asylum is the best batman game. I like to think of the gameplay as splinter cell meets assassin's creed.
Edit: And don't forget the upcoming sandbox game Mafia II also uses physx. Edited by sirsiddius - 01 Aug 2010 at 1:58am |

Well I think it was the best Superhero game out there and it was a solid game. But it broke itself with detective vision. Ugh I played that entire game with it on. the rest of the game was gorgeous but once you had it there wasnt any point in turning it off. |
