Hey guys,

Got my computer in today, noticed SLI is disabled.  To verify both graphics cards are working, I already tested them in the primary PCI-E slot and each worked fine.

At this point I am not sure if it is the bridge, drivers, or motherboard.

I tried reinstalling drivers but did not completely clean the old drivers out.  I'll try that.

Anyone have any other ideas?

NVidia control panel shows 1 graphics card.

I plan on contacting DS tech support tomorrow, but just been up testing to see why it's not working.

In more detail, this is what I've tried so far:

Reinstall Drivers:
1.) Uninstall latest drivers
2.) Restart
3.) Reinstall latest drivers

Verify Integrity of Graphics Cards:
1.) Remove secondary graphics card
2.) Boot and verify primary graphics card is working in primary slot
3.) Shutdown, swap in the secondary graphics card in primary slot
4.) Boot and verify that second graphics card works.
5.) Install primary graphics card into secondary slot and reattach SLI bridge.
6) Boot and determine how many cards are detected.

Reinstall Drivers Again:
1.) Uninstall latest drivers
2.) Restart in Safe mode and use driver cleaner utility to clean all nvidia drivers
3.) Restart in normal mode and install latest drivers with "clean intall" checked

----------------------------

I have done a bit more research on diagnosing and trying to fix SLI issues.  Here are some things I want to try when I get home, aside from obviously contacting tech support.

Reinstall Drivers, different method:
1.) Uninstall latest drivers
2.) Restart in Safe mode and use driver cleaner utility to clean all nvidia drivers
3.) Shutdown, remove secondary graphics card.
4.) Restart in normal mode and install latest drivers with "clean intall" checked.
5.) Shutdown, install secondary graphics card.
6.) Restart and verify whether second card is detected.

Verify Secondary PCI-E slot works:
1.) Remove primary graphics card from primary PCI-E slot.
2.) Boot and see if secondary slot sends signal (Don't know if motherboard supports this???)

BIOS Check:
1.) Look in BIOS to check PCI-E Configuration.

UPDATE BIOS:
1.) Verify current BIOS version, and if necessary, flash newest version.

I would be concerned if the any BIOS changes/updates fix the issue, because that means it wasn't verified that SLI was working during QA prior to shipping.

If DST or anyone else has suggestions for this issue, please feel free to let me know.

At this point, again, the second card is not being picked up at all, from Device Manager, GPU-Z, and NVIDIA Control Panel

The products in question:
x2 EVGA 580GTX (OC Edition) Graphics Card
ASUS P78P67 Deluxe Motherboard

Hi DST, I did this while awaiting a call back from Tech Support.  Neither GPU functioned in the secondary PCI-Ex16 port.

After talking with Carlos @ DS, I'm having a new motherboard sent to me.  They'll talk me through it on the phone, swapping out this one for another one.  I definitely didn't want the downtime of shipping it back to California from Virginia.  I'd rather take a stab at installing it myself, which is what I almost did before taking the plunge with a DS computer.

As always you da man DST, thanks for your help bro.

Ya looks like you got it already, if both don't work on one slot and do on the other that means you got a bad slot and that as you found out means mobo change, the good thing here is that once you do the mobo change, pretty much build the pc, the rest of the stuff is easy, so you about to gain lot of experience.

Changing mobo is easy, specially when you have a DS tech on the phone to walk you thru

I will say that they did an excellent job with cabling, and this case is huge.  It should be pretty easy considering they have all the wiring bundled and set.  Same model motherboard as well, so I don't think I need to reinstall or mess with the hard drive?

Thanks again, and thanks to DS (especially Carlos).

I feel bad, I left Carlos a bad survey by accident.  I was trying to fill the thing out with my phone.  Apparently I failed.

[email protected] email management and let them know about the mistake of bad review I think that will come back to hunt him.

only thing you will need to take off and put back is gonna be the ram, gpus, and the cpu cooler, other then that its just pulling out cables/power connectors and putting them back on the new one.

I emailed the management email right after I realized what happened.

Alex has a fast response time.  And here I thought he was all talk; that that email was a fake! Hahaha
