Currently have 2 5870's in crossfire. Thinking about adding a third. Would it greatly improve performance on games like Crysis?

no not really. nothing that will wooh you.
and remember nvidias will always run better on crysis. so try to pick something else to use on testing graphics quality for ati cards

unless you really like crysis and playing it out of real enjoyment.
then Im jealous cause I never found crysis fun, it's a pretty game but not a good game

Kyu, I do like Crysis and like to play with my kids. i know Crysis is supposed to be better with Nvidia cards but had Nvidia cards on previous rigs and prefer ATI. Can't try anything else right now as my Hailstorm is back at DS for some upgrades which is why i was thinking about having them add a third ATI card.

Probably not,
And adding a 3rd card dramatically increases the chance of microstuttering, which is the bane of all gamers.

ah ic, yeah crysis is popular just some random amount of people didn't like it (me)
got really boring for me, but I'm glad you enjoy it.
graphics on it is great, but yeah like before 3 won't give you a Woooh reaction amount of increase in performance.
unless you jump on eyefinity with higher res.
then it's a different story

@ 1900 x 1200 with 2 x 5870 with highest settings and 2x aa you should get between 50 to 60fps which is what you want.

1. What is the difference between the regular 5870 and the XFX - HD version that is offered for slightly more??

2. Is it worth the $75 for the XFX version??

no.

the 5870 oces very well itself and higher then what xfx gives you and xfx does not have a great track record in nvidia stuff IMO.

a 2,500 sq ft home is enough .. 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. a 5,000 sq ft custom home .. game room, 2 living areas, and 3 car garage .. well, this guy has it all by the world's standards. did i mention, he's bringing in the new porsche tomorrow?
