5900 stage times?

Hi guys! I only ordered a month ago (feb 22- stage 1). Today at March 21 it’s only been 20 business days so trust me I’m not at all expecting my PC for at least a few weeks more lol.

I ordered 3080 and 9 5900x, which I know when I ordered said “backordered until March”. I originally expected a sometime in April ship date (in my mind I thought: CPU unavailable till March, so 20-25 business days after production starts sometime in March when they get the CPU = around April ship time.).

Anywho, I emailed a couple days ago asking for an estimated ship time but they said I couldn’t get one till I get into stage 2. Which, I understand Digital Storm probably don’t want to give any right now in case further delays occur. But now I’m worried because last I checked the 5900x says “backordered till April” in the parts configure screen. I wouldn’t want to switch the CPU since I’m planning on workstation tasks either. (I have someone flying in in May as well that needs a system for music production while here, so if it’s not going to be here in May I’ll just need to ask him to pack his own system- Mac thankfully so should be easy.)

Super long story short:
Anyone else here that ordered a 5900x; do you remember your stage dates? I don’t mind much waiting but I’m just trying to get a sense for what I’m looking at time wise. Thanks!

I think it is tough to compare stage times since most of us have such different builds. Granted the CPU/GPU might be the same but the rest of it mixes in a bunch more variables. That said, I had a 5950x and a 3800 and below were my stage times. I wouldn't let the "backordered <month>" thing throw you too much. When I ordered mine it said "backordered February" and like a day or two after I ordered mine they changed the label to "backordered March". I got my system much faster than I expected so hopefully you will too.

Stage 2 - 2/24

I ordered the same system in November 18 and it wasn’t until March that the states finally started moving, it went to stage 2 at December 30, and stayed at stage 2 until March. Now it’s finally at stage 7

My understanding is stage 2 is CPU assignment. The build can get held up from there for awaiting other parts.

So from what I’m understanding... there may be further delays in stage 2 unrelated to the 5900 since by stage 2 the CPU should already be allocated for the build?

...That’s a little worrying since you would think the other parts would have been found by the time a 5900 comes in. Do they not allocate any parts until the CPU is in even for builds with backordered CPU’s?

I’m not sure if I’ll be in California (where I’m having it shipped to) or not in late July-August so if it comes to that I’ll have to ask a family member to wait for a package & sign for me . I hope it doesn’t come to that though lol. Crossing my fingers it isn’t THAT bad... :,). I’m only 23 business days in though so no worries yet.
