Ive been reading a lot on the 480 and 5970 and i always see the 5970 coming in way ahead on bench marking. It is 140 dollars more to upgrade on this site.
I asked about a week ago why everyone seems to use 480 and i was basically told because the 5970 doesnt work with certain games and that it is two cards in one that dont run that great. or at least thats what i remember....
From what i have read the 5970 has problems when running in crossfire because the drivers are having problems with microstuttering. I did not know this was a problem just with one? Also i read that the 5970 is a card made for overclocking so that you can take advantage of the fact it is two cards that have been down clocked.
Basically, i just want to understand why it is that i shouldnt upgrade 140 dollars on my card to have something that seems to be much stronger and runs at lower temps. This is something that has really been bugging me as I feel im missing something.

right now it seems nVidia is doing a better job of optimizing it's drivers, which allows it to run better with all the games out. ATI has been having driver issues big time over the last couple months. and honestly the 5970 is not crushing the 480 like you may think. you can still play pretty much every game on max settings except for a couple and that's because those games are not optimized properly within their own coding.

Catalyst AI has crossfire profiles that tell the card how to properly balance the load between GPUs on a particular game. Different games use different GPUs. With AI off you probably will not see more than one GPU is used both.
The real problem is the graphics artifacts that you see with him and helped with two GPUs. What PSU are using? Have you overclocked your card at all? Have you tried just the tension and normal stock speeds? |

youd be suprised, the coming up generations seem to have more interest in thier smartphone/android apps and texting eachother:
"what are you doing?" "nothing" "what are you doing?" "nothing" "what are you doing?" "updating my facebook and twitter status to show im doing somthing cool even though im not"
it makes me feel old to make this complaint, but it depresses me to see this happening to us
