What does everyone think of this build, budget i would like to keep around 6k but a little more wont hurt. Will be using 3x monitors (minimum res of 1920x1080 each) mostly for gaming and some Video Editing/Web Content Creation. Don’t really need any HDD's or SSD's as i will get them elsewhere. Will be returning from Afghanistan in about 4 weeks and looking to have machine by then. I built my last liquid cooled machine which was great but this time I’m going to let someone else do the legwork.

Would much rather prefer 3x 7970's if possible. Edited by dickcheney - 10 Jan 2012 at 8:42pm |

FYI, you cannot have 16gb of total ram on Home Premium, you need to go up to Professional.

Yup, I will be installing windows and my own SSD's. On second thought i think i will wait until DS offers 7970's and then pull the trigger. i would love to let them install SSD's but they charge a hefty premium for something i can just do myself...cyro-tec i cannot do myself. As of win7 you can do 16GB with home premium, you may have seen me say that you need pro before, but it looks like ms changed it with win7.
tri cf 7970 would be a waste of your money, either go tri sli 570 2.5GB or wait for the 670/680 to come out, the 7970 is pretty disappointing in its performance, unlike the 6970 and 5970. Your build needs lot of work. 1. you do realize you don't need tec, its a luxury, and will make no difference in performance here. 2. the gpus are still under regular lc. 3. are you comfortable to work in lc loop if and when one of the gpus go bad? Also we recommend you upgrade gpus once every 2 years to stay powerful in gaming, are you comfortable doing that? 4. If you want a good proven reliable psu you need the 1200w corsair. 5. drop the upgraded fans, they are loud and not needed, the hailstorm uses 140mm fans anyways, upgrade fans are 120mm loud fans, if you want led fans for the 800d let me know as you see I have some in mine, but they are custom ordered 1400mm quiet led fans with good flow. 6. uv tubes need uv lighting. 7. Temperature Display & Fan Controller will not control all fans and its temps are not accurate. 8. you need to go stage 2 oc with vcor lower then 1.4, otherwise you are wasting some serious money on parts you have no use for. Instead of wasting money on fans and fan controller, instead as them to use XSPC "RX" series rad with Scythe gentle typhoon fans on them, this will give you better performance with practically no noise. Try this instead: Ticket Number: 642243 and replace its 3 x 140mm fans with these: xigmatek 140mm blue led fans Edited by DST4ME - 11 Jan 2012 at 1:17am |

The 5970 i had in my last machine and it was awesome. but from what i can see 3x 7970 would beat out 3x 580 at the same price point. Apologies if i am sounding stubborn just trying to get best for the money and not opinions Thanks for the help! |

Not giving you opinions giving you facts, once you are getting around 60fps more power is pointless.
the 7970 is about 10 fps better then 580, and lot more expensive, it's little gain thats not needed to begin with is pointless and expensive. its not about beating out, you will see no difference between a system that gets 80fps and one that gets 2000fps, is one beating the other in fps? yes, does it matter? NO. best for your money is what gives you the power you need for best price. as I said the 5970 and 6970 are great cards unlike 7970. once the 670/680 come out later this year they are gonna blow the 7970 out of the water and for less. unless of course you are referring to getting the most power money can buy, regardless of whether you need/notice it, then that is a different story.
