The differences between the two are just the extra things that ultimate OS has and premium doesn't? Or is there more to it?

Ultimate supports up to 128+ GB of memory and 2 physical processors while Premium supports 16GB of memory and one processor.

128+GB of RAM?  GEEZES, why would you need such a thing.  maybe if your running a HUGE server?  I dunno.

I am just curious, but is it possible that if you have a nice GPU and processor yet the game isn't maxed out, could 128GB of RAM max it out?  could you over power one more then the other to make a difference?

Don't get me wrong, I know that would cost more to get 128GB of ram then to upgrade a computer.  I am just curious.

No, you wouldn't be maxing out the game since your CPU and GPU would be a bottleneck.

Don't only server motherboards have 2 CPU's?

AMD 1207FX are dual socket motherboards.

And Intel will be releasing a dual socket motherboard (Skulltrail) in 2008 as well.

The only game that I can think of that would be worth running dual CPU/GPU's is crysis.

But damn that'd be a fast computer.

yeah, but I just read something on the internet about skulltrail... it won't support triple SLI.  Only Dual and 2x2 (7500 series GX2's).  Really stinks if you ask me.  Especially if you *really* want that triple SLI power

The game would have to be coded for 2 processors for it to realize any benefit from having two processors to begin with. Most games can't even make good use of two cores, let alone 8. I view the Skulltrail as more a curiosity and collector's item. 128GB of RAM does leave open some interesting virtual RAM drive possibilities though.

OMG!  I remember back in the days of old DOS and Window 3.1 where me and another guy built our work PC's with a lot of memory and ran them as RAM drives.  Made a *LOT* of difference putting swap and tmp there.
