I am wondering what gpu to put in my new laptop and have narrowed it down to either the gtx 670mx or the 675m.
After some research I came to notice that both cards should perform similarly in most applications. I would assume that the Kepler architecture in the 670mx would run cooler than the Fermi found in the 675m and draw less power too. I have noticed that the 675m also costs $109 less and i am on a very tight budget. I hope to be able to play Planetside 2 at a minimum of medium level details. I ask for your opinions on the topic, should i go with the newer, more effecient 670mx, or the older, cheaper 675m? |

Sorry I missed this thread.
When it comes to GPU's, I'm of the mindset of getting the best you can afford. I'm not that familiar with the MX series. It seems that NVidia just kind of quietly dropped them into the line up to bridge the price difference between the 675M and the 680M. I would post a configuration of what you would like to buy and let us help you decide what you can compromise on to get the best CPU and GPU for your games. Many folks get the Diamond Thermal paste for $38. but, if the budget is tight, I'd go with the cheaper stock paste in order to have extra money for a better GPU. These laptops are easy to work on and you could always repaste them when you pick up a few extra dollars down the road. I'd look more towards the 675MX if you can't swing the 680M. In a gaming machine....it's all about the GPU.
