Hello,
I am excited to join the DS family soon with the Bolt II. My question is if it is wise to get an ACX-type cooler in the Bolt II since it is such a small case or to stick with the reference-type blower. Thanks in advance. |

Either will work fine since the Bolt II has air vents right on top of the GPU where the ACX card would exhaust.

Hey, I have another quick question for anyone who is knowledgeable.
I plan on getting the aforementioned EVGA 780 SC ACX. Is there any point in also getting the DS GPU overclock option since it's already overclocked? I will be choosing the standard 500W PSU + i7-4770k (no OC), btw. |

I will throw a question I have been wondering about in this thread as well; How long of a graphics card can fit in the Bolt II?

According to another thread, the 780Ti and Titan will both fit. As to the max length allowed, I do not know.

Just submitted my order! I ended up just making the ACX thing a moot point and getting the 780ti, haha. I hope everything goes smoothly.

Congratulations on your order! Now all you have to do is wait. ;-)
I am sure, you will have a lot of fun with it once you get it. I chatted the other day with a sales support guy about the ACX cooler graphics cards and they got back to me this morning. They told me that all the custom coolers make the cards too wide to fit in the Bolt II. Edited by danjw1 - 22 May 2014 at 12:43pm |

I have a first gen Bolt with a Titian in it. :) I do like the newer design of the Bolt II over the Bolt 1. It seems they fixed all of my grips with the original.

Thanks guys. It got to stage 3 today so hopefully it sticks to the 10-15 timetable. But, the best things are always worth the wait.

Just a correction. Not all, only the ASUS that we've tested with the DCU II OC cooler. ACX fits fine as long as it is not the classified cooler. |

Ah, ok, that isn't what I was told. Thank you for clarifying that. Here is what I got in the email from your support: "Great question, the team said that that really won’t matter. The issue is that it will not support that card since it’s not based on a reference design. All aftermarket graphic cards are either too wide, too tall, or too long. We can only use the reference cards on the Bolt II." Edited by danjw1 - 23 May 2014 at 5:25am |

Hey guys,
Quick question. When I ordered my Bolt 2, I added a note to please install the WiFi antenna connectors to the WiFi module on the motherboard so I could use the antenna that comes with it. My Bolt 2 is in stage 6, but I got a message from customer service today saying that my motherboard isn't WiFi ready. I'm almost positive that the Z97I-PLUS has an integrated WiFi module, right? Hopefully this is just a simple mix-up or mis-communication. |

The Wi-Fi chip does not have external antennas on the rear i/o. Perhaps that is what caused the miscommunication.

According to the ASUS website for the motherboard and the user manual, it should come with wires that can be installed on the module and then inserted into the rear I/O so the external antenna can then be connected to that. Here are pictures from the user manual that describe what I'm talking about. Link to user manual: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/Z97I-PLUS/E9272_Z97I-PLUS.pdf Not trying to be a hassle, but I do need the WiFi and the reception might not be very good without the antenna. I also just want to make sure the wrong motherboard wasn't installed or something before it's shipped out. |
