Worth a shot checking out the northbridge fan. If its not that it might be a quirky capacitor.

If you mean dialup type squealing tones, that's probably a capacitor.

There may not be anything technically "wrong" with the component with the noisy capacitor, but if that is the source of the noise, it's also unlikely to stop. You should contact DSO and explain the issue. See what they think the source of your noise is (perhaps they are aware of another cause for this that does not include the need for a part replacement). If it is a capacitor, you may need to have the part swapped out in order to be free of this noise.

It would prolly be helpful to isolate the region that the noise is coming from prior to calling DSO. If it's a noisy cap, it could be on a graphics card or other component as well. Make sure it's not your optical drive as they are prolly one of the cheapest parts in your case. If you have access to a db meter, that will aid in locating the noise source once you determine the approximate frequency. Or just wing it and use your ears... it could be resonant frequencies from one of your HDD as well. Make sure all connections are secure. Still, the velociraptor and raptors have some interesting resonances...
