just wondering, would issues like these be spotted during the QA cycle if DS does not play any games on it?

just scared that's all since it has good ratings but didn't stand the test of time yet and this stupid post lol

We do test the system with a few different tools which catch practically almost every issue. You should be perfectly fine.
 
It's hard, if not impossible, to gauge if you'll have an issue by reading up forum posts, as every person has as a different configuration, software, drives, and accessories plugged into their computer, and even Windows updates, etc...
