Topic: 790 board question Posted: 26 Mar 2008 at 1:24pm |
I see today the 790 boards are being offered with DDR3.
I have a noob question. The 790i has a 1600 FSB, right?
The only 1600 CPUs are the 9775 and 9770?
Is the 9975 only compatable with the skulltrail board? If so are the 9770s going to be offered?
Or do I have this all screwed up as usual.
I was getting close to my DSO but the economy and $3.79 per gallon for regular gas prices have set me back "AGAIN"

The 790i is a socket 775 motherboard and has support for 1600 FSB CPUs.
The QX9775 is compatible with all socket 771 motherboards (which includes skulltrail). The QX9770 has not yet been released by Intel. Edited by skyR - 26 Mar 2008 at 1:32pm |

So anything from the 9650 down is compatible with the 790 board?
Is there anyway of knowing at this point if Nehalem with be compatible with the 790 board?
When do you think a 1600 CPU will be available?
BTW thanks for the response.

Anything from QX9770 and down will be compatible with the 790i board.
Nehalem processors will be using new sockets and therefore will not be compatible with any current motherboards (790i, P35, X48, etc). The QX9770 should be out soon a long with the rest of the Yorkfields from Intel. |
