Hey DS was there any reason why U didnt offer the asus striker II 790i instead of the XFX version. And what is the differance as to why the asus is like 80 bucks more. Just asking in case U find a problem with my Mombo while its in for repairs AGAIN I wouldnt mind upgrading that. I just hear of alot of problems with the XFX board that I have and I have noticed alot of freezes and crashes myself from day 1 really that I have blamed on software but who knows.

I had the same issues with the XFX mobo. They make awsome graphics cards but there mobo' s are not that great!! If you are under the thirty day return limit, for $52 You can upgrade to the EVGA 790i ftw digital pwm mobo. I upgraded to the EVGA and my issues I had with the XFX no longer plague my rigg. It is a great mobo! EVGA for the win!!!

No I bought this in august but it has been in for repairs a few times. I am thinking though something is wrong with the mombo its going back to DS Monday for the performance problem and a heating issue that was suppose to be solved that isnt. the asus striker II extreme is suppose to be the best 790i board according to my friend and reviews it is also the most money out of all the 790i's  is that correct or not about it being the best does anyone know? Because if they have to replace the mombo I dont think I want the XFX anymore.

The Asus Striker II is honestly a lower quality board than the NVIDIA based versions. We have a lot of bad experiences with the previous Striker models for example and we immediately removed them from our web site.

I also undersatnd that you don't want to experience issues with your unit, and honestly, it's not that you have a 790i and thats the culprit.

There are thousands of customers with a 790i and are doing great. There are always going to be people with different boards with issues, that's the life of computers.

But, honestly, we will resolve the issue when it arrives to our facility and pin-point it and ensure that it does not show up for you in future.

Warm Regards,
Alex

Hey Alex If it is a bad mobo, does it have to be replaced with another XFX 790i or would he get the option to have an EVGA PWM installed. Would he have to pay full price for the EVGA or just the differance even though it is after the 30 day period??? this is his forth time sending it in to be fixed. It smells lemony fresh to me.

Ya thats what I was getting at. A good friend of mine who unfortunately moved out of state to work for IBM has been talking with me about this and he thinks yes I may have both a software issue and a bad mombo. But he said the mombo issue may be hard to prove except that I will continue to have little problems here and there. He said the xfx 790i ultra board has been buggy with SLI and if I get the chance to change it to do it to another brand of 790i that is rated better. So I really dont know everyone seems to tell me something different but after looking at different forums the EVGA board looks like a good choice.

I had the same issues with the xfx mobo so I feel your pain. Once it was switched to the evga my rigg majorly improved and has none of the issues the xfx had. Also when I installed my third 280 I got almost a 4000point increase in vantage. If you switch mobo you will be vary happy you did.

Well I just packed up my system again for like the 4th time since I got it. I like the system and I can see the quality DS has but jeez if the EVGA is that much better and the fact I have spent over $9000 they should install that one no charge  or throw something in how about a nice paint job I like black outside and blue for the inside . I AM JUST VERY FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW. This sucks

I can understand your frustration, one of the reasons why I stay away from LCing the GPUs, sometimes there is nothing wrong and sometimes you might have to send it in a bunch of times.

IMO yes but that is my point of viewand many people might disagree. What matteres is what you think. Also spending that kind of money, IMO it should be perfect but we are talking about pcs and issues happen. I say go with evga.
