Hi I want a future proof pc where I don't have to upgrade for years. I really really hate upgrading my pc it is so inconvinent. So I was thinking of going 2.66 ghz, 8 gigs of ram, and 3 nvidia 280x 1 gig video cards. Is 4 gigs of ddr3 going to give much of a performance boost over 8 gigs of ddr2? I might want to just go 8 gigs of ddr if the boost isn't that much because I think games won't require 8 gigs for many years. Also for the 3 triple sli nvidia 280x cards do I need a 1200 watt power source or can I just use a 750 watt source? Are the 1200 watt sources silent or loud?
thank you digital stormian forumers! |

The minimum for GTX 280 triple-SLI is 850W but it is highly recommended to have a 1000W PSU.
The difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is very small. But the difference between 4gb and 8gb is also very small in gaming (unless you multi-task or edit heavily) |
