    Posted: 16 Nov 2008 at 10:11am
I ordered my system without hard drives or an operating system.
I installed 2 x 320 gig drives and configured them in a raid 0 array.
I begin the Vista install and it gets to Expanding Files 39% and then gives an 0x80070017 File may be corrupt or missing message.  I have tried burning multiple disks from multiple ISO's even at very low burn speeds (4x) and the error is always the same.  Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Brand new formatted drives.
Disabled Raid and went with a single drive...same issue.
Installed XP to the single drive and it worked...may try upgrade...although I hate to upgrade.

Thanks

What is your motherboard and DVD drive?

SATA DVD drives have some known issues installing Vista on 790i's. I think the Vista + SP1 fixed some issues. Does your Vista ISO include SP1?

I got this issue sorted out.

I want to thank DS for the phone support even though I did not purchase the hard drives from them.  They could have easily said they would not support them.  My issue was bad DVD's.  I must have purchased a bad batch...although they worked for other things I burned...there was issues with burning Vista to them.  I picked up some new media and had no problems.  This was not a retail version of Vista it was and MSDN version as I will be using this machine as my work computer.  Thanks for all the reply's...I just wanted to post my solution in case someone else runs into this issue.

THX for the reply, I thought there was something wrong with the install, looks like it was the DVD, very nice of you to post the results so that others can benefit, thank you
