My machine is still in stage 5. I had a special request to get my HDDs installed in the hot swap bays of the Hailstorm/Corsair 800D case. Both the OS drive and the data drive. Both drives are WD 1TB caviar black.
Now, browsing the Corsair forums, I see many people have issues with the Corsair  SATA III hot swap backplane update,  which was released last year. Specifically,  the drives are dropped, randomly. And cannot be booted from.
Apparentlty the issue is that the new SATA III upgraded backplane, which replaces 4 modules with a single board with unified power, has a faulty power implementation. Here is a relevant post explainingthe issue:

My questions: should I be concerned? Should I ask for the boot drive, a least , to be installed in the fixed enclosure at the bottom, with direct mobo connection? Does anybody at DS even know about this issue?

I wonder if anybody on this forum had a similar config with mine (i.e boot disk installed in a 800d machine with the upgraded hot swap SATA III backplane and if they had any issues...
