I just read some conflicting information so i was hoping for some clarity. I want the 950si case for my system and will be using air to cool. I am aware that the Haf 932 has better air flow so no need to point that out. I am more interested in lower sound levels than the best air flow. From what I can see there is a nice big intake fan in front and I plan on adding intakes at the top of the case. When I asked the person in sales if I would benefit from the Zalman fan upgrades she said to not do that if i was interested in quiet. She said the Zalman's were "loud performance fans". I was going to stick with the stock fans or get my own after purchase but just read that a owner of this case got the Zalmans and they were quiter. Does anyone have any experience with this. Would love to hear from some 950si owners with air cooling what they are doing. I don't want to add the fans on the side window unless it is necessary also. Thanks again - will be ordering as soon as my power supply is back in stock this week. :)

if you don't go with the 950 your cooling is gonna suffer.

you have made the mistake of thinking that the HAF fans make lot of noise they don't, most of your noise comes from the GPU fans, thats 801% of your sound right there.

so no matter what case you go with there is going to be lot of noise, the HAF keeps the temps cooler so you should hear less noise from a GPU in a HAF then a GPU in a 950si.

if you are so concerned about noise then you want to LC everything but I advise against that.

I know that the GPU and CPU fans are what generate the noise. On the HAF the GPU's are right under a mesh panel so there is no sound barrier. DS themselves advised that this would be the quietest case. I would assume that what you would gain from decreased fan speeds (sound wise) would be lost by having the GPU fans so exposed. I am not interested in having the coolest (cold) PC around and have read many good reviews for this case. I mostly just want to hear from some 950si owners that upgraded to Zalmans as compared to stock for their direct experience. Tongue

No they say 950 is more quiet because it does not have the fans, but in reality as I said your noise come from the GPU fans and those fans are on the GPU itself, I have many PCs, one of them is an old dell xps gen4, this case is much more closed and has less fans then the 950, you think any of that makes a difference in my GPU's fan noise? yes and no.

no because the noise is still loud as hell

yes because since the case does not have good cooling, its always warmer inside so the GPU fans need to run for longer on higher rpm, which all equals to more noise.

I'm not telling which case to get, I'm just letting you know that no matter what you do, with air you are gonna get the noise cause its from GPU.

Zalmans fans are more quite then the next fan, but keep in mind that does not mean they don't make noise

btw coolest case = less fan noise

The GPU fan is what makes my config a little noisy.  I have the HAF 932 which is pretty quiet before the GPU fan starts up at 80%.  But I love how cool everything is.  The HAF932 blows cool air which is pretty neat considering how much stuff is in it.
