Assuming the slide is correct. The difference between 9800GTX and 8800GTS... 4% difference in clock speeds & an extra sli connector.

brilliant?

Im getting a hint you arnt too impressed with the GX2 and the GTX lol. Though im not all tha impressed either. Especially at the price. Maybe there is some intangibles in there like better cooling or something...but yea...GTS cards still look good to me...and hey..maybe the new line will drop the prices in them slightly...i hope..ha.

Don't forget they'll probably have 9800GTS and 9800GTs too. Maybe they'll be able to overclock like crazy or something. Core to like 800Mhz and memory to like 2500mhz lol
Pentium 2
128MB of RAM
No GPU
and a 30GB HD

And you wondered why I registered lol (those specs are not a joke)

I guess it wouldnt be bad if you were getting a new computer, but definitely not for upgrading from an old 8xxx line.

Actually, considering how little separates the 8800GTS from the 8800GTX in terms of performance, I am very interested to see how a triple SLI setup featuring these new cards fares versus the 8800GTX version. If the performance is close, while the card may not be the most exciting release from a technical standpoint, at ~$350 each, that represents a substantial savings from the previous tri-SLI offerings.

I'm going to put my money on the 8800GTX since it has a higher ROP and higher memory interface.

I'd be inclined to agree Sky, but overclocking capability is going to enter the picture, which may make things a closer race. Depending how close this card comes to the lower end of the suggested pricing, it's not a bad product even if it does seem a bit "niche".

I'm just thinking of the pricing the 8800 Ultras had at release and comparing the value at ~$900. If someone were looking to support very high resolutions, these could be an attractive alternative to the other options.

8800GTX*3, ~$1200
9800GTX*3, ~$900-1050

If the pricing stays closer to that $900 mark, and the performance stays at least close... well, I'm keeping an eye on how things shape up anyway. It's mostly academic for me anyway, I can't begin to imagine spending so much on a toy that is guaranteed to be worthless in a few short of years. Wink
