I think i may be getting ahead of myself considering i haven't even bought the new pc i plan on buying in the distant or near future but hey why not its always good to ask questions. Anyway i plan on getting one of the motherboards that have the wireless capabilities, so when the time comes i plan on buying a wireless router and hooking it to the modem my internet company has provided us with.

Anyway i was looking at the Netgear N300, Netgear N600 and the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 and was wondering which i should go with and whether or not it will work with the motherboards wireless card. Do you think it will affect my internet speed because i currently get 7.62 mbps download speed and 0.96 mbps upload speed?

I'm new to wireless stuff but i have been trying to educate myself on them.

All 3 would work fine with any of the wireless motherboards currently available, but with your internet speeds, the N300 would be more than sufficient. To be honest, I would wait until you're actually ready to get one and then see what is available then. I don't think there will be any new standards but 802.11ac may be more common by then or even the standard. Right now, unless you either have really high bandwidth or have internal connection needs, I'd be hard pressed to recommend anything other than a basic-mid N router. Pick something up in the $60-100 range and I think you will do fine.

Thanks, i'm thinking when the time comes i'll ask my bf if we can contact our internet provider and up our internet speed to the highest that is available in our area and go from there. I plan on waiting to get one anyway since it will be awhile before i purchase my next computer, i just like thinking ahead. I know our IP can add wireless internet to our plan for 8 more bucks a month which could be worth it instead of buying a wireless router cause i know if something happens to the router we have good support for it.

Your ISP has good customer support? I'm jealous.

At least in my opinion they do because i haven't never had any issue with them, other people may not think that
