I've been looking at building an arch-nemesis rig to battle my classic Superman 950si.... Lets call it the Lex Luthor rig... The system will be for pure elite gaming on a 30" 2560x1600 and must look as MENACING as possible Lex Luthor shall have:
I'll treat the best configurer to a free DS Tee.....feel free to ask questions about the build and try like hell to keep it under $8,001.00 |

does the hailstorm come standard with the frostbite or what? It seems to be regarded as an LC case so far, be nice to have a case just for a high end LC setup.
too bad it doesn't have any vents or grills. the painted grills on the HAF cases look awesome! |

So I picked a white finish representing his business suit. The interior is black because he's a terrible and evil person so it tells you what really inside him every time you look inside your chassis. I made the screws, clamps, and vents white because they would represent his nice tie and cuffs he had around his business suits wrists and ankles. I made the internal lighting red to represent more evil and lust. I chose the i920 and OC'd it 4.0-.2 because superman is as fast as a bullet so they say. I gave you 3 275(s) 896 MB because they're great just like Lex Luther's technology for hurting superman. I also gave 2 SSD 160 GB things because they are mega fast like superman. I equipped those 2 SDD's with 2 500GB HDD's. One for extra storage when superman gets low on energy, and one for backup if superman needs help defeating Lex. I gave you a great cooling system for 3 Video Cards. If you use superman's ice breath vs Lex's heat guns your comp should run extraordinarily cool. I kept the standard fans because I mean if superman ran any faster...he just might not stop! 6GB's of DDR3 1866 memory was given to you because Lex has to catch superman somehow...I mean if he didn't have this superman could just run around in circles and punch him and keep running while punching him.. The bluray was added just for you and Lex! Keep it a secret from superman because he doesn't know Lex can now see him while he's running super fast! 1200 Power supply to future proof you, and the everlasting battle of Lex Luther vs Superman (Clark Kent) I also added in the T-Shirt in-case I beat DST4Me's unexplained system. Tell me if I'm missing something to please. The Final Price is 7597-500$DisCOUNT! = 7097$!! Pick Me!

The mobo was picked because lex is a pretty smart guy...and I know you are to, so thats why in the future you might upgrade to 4 sli. |

I wanted to put a 750 HDD because I wanted to be able to back up that entire HDD + the 1 SDD if something happened, but they don't offer it.

@Caleb: Yeah mine are too, you should still be able to click it though.
RAID 0 stripes data (splits data blocks) between two hard drives. So if you were to read or write a file, it is accessing both hard drives at the same time, thus increaseing read/write speed. The downside is that if one drive fails, you lose everything on both. Edited by venom - 14 Aug 2009 at 12:51am |

the system I configed is the best if you take into account heat, from what Alex said, the NB will get hot enough that people need the fan upgrade for the 920 and stage 2 oc.
also even with raid you guys are not comeing close to the intel's 4k read/write speed. remember raid helps with speed of big files not small ![]() Edited by DST4ME - 14 Aug 2009 at 1:29pm |

@Z...possibly. Not sure yet if I will give Superman's three 24's to Lex and put two more 30"s around Superman....or vice versa. I'm thinking of upgrading Superman's three 280's down the line so....plenty of options going on in my head. Thats part of the reason I'm interested in these new quick-release GPU valves DS is bringing aboard.
@DST Exactly...
All of these configs are fantastic and I'm working with chunks from all of them. I might reverse Caleb's suit from white to black though....
