If you want the ultimate in a REAL SUBWOOFER system. Check out the NHT Classic U2 system. MOST "subwoofers" are really only 'woofers' masquerading as 'subwoofers'. The secret is the "long throw" speakers. If you want truly teeth rattling low frequencies. Get this system soon. Due to the cost, I get the impression that they are being discontinued.
You REALLY want to hear Geezer Butler's most excellent base guitar? You REALLY want to feel the deck plates shaking under your feet at warp 9. This is the ticket. It has NO equal(for the price that is). Every other "subwoofer" I have ever hear was crap compaired to this system.

P.S. no sh*t here folks. I challenge anyone to find a better system that doesn't cost multiple thousands of dollars, that is. Edited by riffraff - 13 Nov 2009 at 10:05am |

I would not call that a real subwoofer, and so far from ultimate. lol My little computer sub would destroy that thing. |

idiot hmm. lol My little computer sub would destroy that NHT setup. Plain and simple.
My current home theater setup is weak, my next theater I will not make the same mistakes by under subbing like my current one. But still I bet 10 of those NHT's will not touch my current weak ass setup.

I think what we have hear is a confusion about gear. Refine your search. I will also make sure that I am quoting the exact name of the system I speak about.
Computer subwoofer, Dude, this system is several classes above any computer subwoofer that exists.

Yeah, it is Classic U2. This is NOT computer gear, it is home entertainment A/V gear.
So, who makes a better subwoofer system?

O.K. Now I understand. As I said the NHT is the best for the money. I can't compete with millionairs. Excuse me. My Bad.
Now, for all you folk who are actually on a budget, the NHT system is top notch.
I take it back, you are not an idiot, you are simply arrogant.

This is classic. The minute someone says the best, there will be someone else debating that. I always cringe when I see a thread starting out like this one. I would guess that these subs are good, but you have to be careful how you throw that out there for the public buy-in.
And you may want to reconsider calling someone an idiot on a public forum. My guess here too, is that you just lost any credibility you may have had in the beginning with justin.kerr. Not agreeing with someone doesn't equal "idiot". I know many things, but I'm not beyond reproach and learning about things I don't know. I know I'm ignorant in the things I don't know. And that is a lot. In riffraff's defense though, I believe his excitement for the product got the best of him so his response was a bit over zealous. It's kind of like a young up and coming sales person that has enormous potential in the field. You know they're not firing on all cylinders but you don't want to throw a bucket of cold water on that fire either to teach them humility. Sometimes you just have to shock the collar a bit to get their attention. |

I will post it again.
Justin.kerr is not an idiot, he is simply arrogant.
Millionairs can buy directly from IBM or better. His type lurk on forums like this primarily so they can demonstrate their arrogant superiority.
My credibility with Justin?, OR anybody else on this forum?. Get real, this is a message board. I like some of you folks but if you think that I feel the need to earn your respect, you are badly mistaken.
riffraff
P.S. I have had this subwoofer system for more than a year now.

lol, for one I am not rich, or a millionaire. I do like subs, and that is why I build my own subs/speakers, and that NHT setup for the money is not even close to the best for the $$
That is why 10 NHT setups would come up far short comparing to my current home theater setup, and would cost a lot more..

You are most correct. It is, after all, about fun isn't it, unles of course, one is a millionair.
Clean up on aisle two. Attention K-Mark shoppers, blue light special on aisle 3.

GROAN,
The system which I refer to has 12" speakers.
Build your own, right, most of the folks here have to work for a liveing and don't have the time to build their own subs or build their own computers anymore.
So, what setup do you have. Personally, I don't care about what you build. What can us work for a liveing folks BUY. WHAT IS "the best for the money". Enlighten us please, your highness.

I hope you do realize that you are the one being arrogant. Just because I like subs, and have some friends over on a weekend and build some speakers does not make a person wealthy. I am far from it. This thread is titles AV folks, and I feel that I am a AV person.
just because it has 12" speakers does not mean a thing... there are $2.00 12" crap subs, and there are $4000.00 12" subs.. I mentioned TC sounds because they made some of the best subs ever produced.
The best sub is by far a DIY.
I do not make enough money to have the luxury of buying a pre-built sub, or computer, or most things.. I work 70-80 hours a week, and build stuff on my off time. It keeps me out of trouble.

You are young my son. ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN. Eventually the body will start to go and after 70-80 hours at work, you won't have the energy to do much else.
