AC3 noob question

Not a pc gamer but I downloaded AC3 using the key code that came with my new DS pc.  I figured I'd check it out as it was free.
 
I was expecting there to be an executable file or something to get it going.  When I double click on AC3SP I go to the Uplay log in.  Is that what's supposed to happen?

If I'm not mistaken its a requirement to create a login and validate your copy of ac3. But I'm not 100% sure. Hope that helps maybe a little at least. Congrats on the new system and enjoy!

If you have already entered the product code for AC, then you should not need to log into UPlay again (though you can if you want to). There should be an option to play without a UPlay Passport or Account. This largely came about after the massive (justified) backlash over Ubisoft's insane DRM in past titles on PC. But again, as mentioned, you'll need to "activate" the code via the UPlay launcher you are mentioning, if you have not already done so.
