Great looking add in the October issue. Not sure if you've had them before since I didn't think to look. Let's take DS to new levels!

Nice! Show me which one you are talking about. Could you snap a quick photo?

I'm curious as to why the "Custom Built PCs" is a larger font size than the DigitalStorm masthead and logo.

marketing 101

words like free, fast, and custom custom go in front of the word "digital", or a lightning bolt

I definitely understand the theory behind it. In this instance, however, I wouldn't agree. To me, anyone who picks up and actually reads PC Gamer (including the ads) is going to look at the pages and know exactly what it is: a custom pc builder ad.

Personally, I think what you should be after is name recognition over anything else. Especially when you're a smaller company compared to the pre-built Dells and HPs of the world. Few people are going to see an ad in PC Gamer and say "Hey! I totally want that build," especially when iBuyPower and CyberPower have similar advertisements. All you should really be looking for is people to see "DigitalStorm" more and more so that they are comfortable with the name.

Of course, I'm a law student, not a marketing major, so this is just opinion. I'm supportive of whatever DS decides to do to grow itself.

i agree with you in principle, but not in practice. making something eye catching is twice as important as making it professional, and just as you said, dso is still currently a smaller company, and to me, that means that putting thier name as the biggest part of the add would be a bad idea, becuase you go with names you know. likely if you turn the page and you see ENders Rigs!, youll just keep turning. but if you see "Extreme Cooling" or "Custom Gaming Cases" you will at least have a look around, even if its just to see whos advertisement it actually is, and at that point, know the name or not, you see the prices and cases, hopefully the huge white on black BBB rating... and the point of the ad is met

just like a movie ad with a huge a lister in it, you see that person before you see the name or point of the movie, and you are paying attention... typically when a movie is a bigger release with no big actors at all, they will not make a point of showing the actors' faces on the banners, you will instead be drawn in with a hot girl or a cool title/picture

You make good points. I guess I just look at things from a different perspective. Regardless I think that DS's biggest marketing tool is its customers so I hope everyone spreads the word.

edit: Guess I can't post a link. Oh well, check out DS ratings on - Outside Link Removed -.

Just saw this. I'm sure DS knows about it but it is extremely impressive. May want to link to it somewhere. The number of ratings and the uniformity of the high scores is overwhelming.

@rayfinkle, thank you for the praise. I know what you are talking about. Our team wants us to limit the number of outside links we have on our forums for search engine rules...

Anyways, if you guys thought that was nice, look at our latest AD we've been working on:

There are some changes on this latest revision. Such as the addition of more cases on the right, a better stage and view of our two featured systems on the left.
