    Posted: 20 Oct 2010 at 9:19pm
Hello all,
My DS system is going on 3 years old now and I need to update some components. I originally bought two 250 GB HDs. The first one contains the OS, programs and files, and the second one is the back up HD. I want to add a third hard drive for storing programs and/or files. So 2 questions:

Will the configuration below handle another drive?

If so, any recommendations out there?
Thanks

while I'd love to do that, it's not in the budget. But why do you suggest it? Only issues with the computer are space (and it's a little louder than I'd like).

obviously i dont speak for everyone, but i think that "updating" a 2-3 or more year old build is a really slippery slope, its one thing, then antother, then something goes out that you need to replace, and you want something else new but its not compatible, then you just need one more thing, and one more thing....
before you know it you have spent half of what you would need for a completely new system.. and worse, you spent it all on old tech

just my thoughts, but i guess if it serves every purpose you need it to, no reason to mess with that idea
if you need more storage you can pick up a 500gb drive on newegg or tiger direct, and you can use it as external usb storage

Appreciate the ideas. Unfortunately I've got a 2 year old running around and trying to minimize the external devices she can get her hands on. Hoping I have enough power to go internal.

Big%20Smile Looks like adding a drive should be OK. If you are worried about the  power supply , then just replace the 2nd drive. 620W should be able to handle it. Be sure to check for available an power connector and sata port on you motherboad.
