if you could, then it would just be a duplicate, you can't use them as 2 independent monitors by splinting the avg.

Yes, it is possible and there are many manufacturers that offer this tech, typically usb interfaces to do it. Let me pull up a few for you. Also check tomshardware.com they just did a review a couple of months ago on one; If I remember correctly DisplayLink is the company who develops the USB>whatever connection tech for external third-party monitor adapters.
Ok so it said no links just go to tomshardware a dotcom site and search usb monitors refine to reviews and the article was in August of 2011 Hope that helps. Edited by NoHanDlEor - 29 Sep 2011 at 5:00pm |

I'm sorry for some reason I was concerntated only on the vga port that you have occupied and forgot about the usb ports, but I have never used those so I can't tell you how good they are.
thx NoHanDlEor for pointing taht out. but never look at tom'shardware for anything, check anadtech, guru3d or techpowerup. Edited by DST4ME - 29 Sep 2011 at 5:07pm |

I agree they make their money through review but it is a good starting point for people who don't want to dig through forums or do the beginner footwork.

If we are talking about tom's that is never a good place as their reviews and benches are not trustworthy, the other sites I mentioned have a good rep vs the rep of tom's, but ya searching creditable sites and their reviews is indeed a good starting point for beginners, no argument there.

good to know will keep that in mind I do most of my searches through forums but always look around for various reinforcements to people opinions. And as far as the USB adapters go they'll work for spreadsheets basic browsing workloads but I wouldn't try any gaming or video. USB3 interface type equipment will be better because of the extra available ban but until (if ever) external video cards come out of proto. phase there won't be a go to choice for monitor expansion that offers the same "experience" as a dedicated connection.
