Hi Folks,

Still loving My DS RiG..Love

I am a Big Fan of FPS (COD Series, MOH, Battlefield).  I was thinking about adding a 2nd ATI 5870 1 Gig card since prices have come down over the past several months. My only concern is this:

For the money, will I actually see an appreciable difference in these games in terms of eye-candy and maybe better hit boxes.

My ISP is Verizon FIOS.
Monitor: DELL UltraSharp U2410 24-inch IPS

DS Rig is:

Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz (Quad Core)----OC'd 2.94GHz
Motherboard: ASUS P6X58D Premium SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0) (Supports SLI or CrossFire)
System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Dominator with DHX Extreme Edition
Power Supply: 1000W Corsair (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible)
Video Card(s): 1x ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB

If it would be beneficial to grab a 2nd card I would like to purchase it directly from DS (if they do that, and if price is competitive).

Or, would GTX Series Cards make more sense at this point ?

Thanks A Lot,

Becks

If your games seem smooth to you know, then you may not notice much, but if your games are not 100% smooth then you would notice a difference.

I would wait and upgrade to the next round of gpus q4 of this year or h1 of 2012

DST4ME,

Thanks...Sometimes I get all excited about an upgrade, and it helps to get a reality check. You are right ! I'm going to wait.

Like DSt said, I would wait for the next gen AMD GPU's to come out.
The 5870 has been a proven winner, and have provided great DX11 performance for over 1.5 years now.. lol crazy good value for those who got them early on. Wait for the next Gen, they will be  more powerful than 2 5870's, have more Vram, and won't be much more than a 5870's price. Hard to wait, but it is the smart choice . Confused
