Hey all,
When purchasing a DS computer, how much sales tax is charged? Does it depend on the state in which you live? Also, how much is shipping for a laptop? Thanks! |

I can't say for every state, but usually sales tax is only applied if you live in Calif, where DS is housed. Of course, every state assumes you'll claim it come tax time.
To figure shipping, pick a laptop, hit Buy Now and click on Rate Calculator and put in zip code. Across the country, ground, looks like $47.

I just bought a system and I live outside of CA. The only additional cost was the shipping.
I'm not sure what bprat22 means when he says you have to claim it come tax time. If you are buying it for a business and you don't pay sales tax, then you pay use tax when you file your personal property tax. But, at least in CO, there is no state tax line item that says "Did you buy something out of state? If so apply sales tax to it." Maybe its different in the few states that don't have an income tax. But in answer to your question, only shipping costs applied to my out of state purchase. |

Now I'm not the IRS so really don't care
Its not the same as income tax but still due with a different form. And due by April15th. For me, a tax is a tax. Unless I'm reading this wrong, which is surely possible, Colo has the same procedure. My sister lives there. But, I'm not the tax police so it is what it is. Edited by bprat22 - 09 Dec 2012 at 12:27pm |

Sales tax is only for orders being shipped to California or picked up at our facility in Fremont, CA. The website will provide you with a quote with sales tax after you enter the shipping details during the checkout process.
