Hello everyone,
Looking for some help for my next computer purchase. For some sympathy the following is what I'm currently using: Dell Dimension 8400 Pentium 4 3.40ghz GeForce 9500gt Dell 1704fpt 150gb for storage (huge I know) So I think it's time for an upgrade lol. 1. Budget: 1,500 max 2,000 2. Expectations: Looking for a computer I can easily upgrade and not have to replace in a year. 3. Usage: I have a World of Warcraft addiction and have to play on the lowest setting and sometimes have to fight with lag in our 25 man raids. Would love to play on highest settings with no problems for once. Usually always on my computer web surfing and will be adding windows office. I love the Corsair 600t white case, so naturally the ODE V2 seems like a common sense buy. Looking at level 3 and that's where I'm torn with the ODE and the below set up. I have never built a computer but I have watched a ton of videos on the egg and don't think it's too intimidating. CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair H100 92.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V PRO ATX LGA1155 Motherboard Memory: Corsair XMS3 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Storage: Corsair Neutron Series GTX 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card Case: Corsair 600T White Graphite ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair Professional Gold 850W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply Optical Drive: Asus BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer Monitor: Asus PA248Q 24.1" Monitor Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) Total: $2162.10 If this violates any forum rules please delete with my apologies just looking for some advice from a company that impresses me with their quality of products. Thank you for any advice and help and sorry for the wall of text. |

Welcome to the forums!
First off, for your budget the ODE series is definitely the best. You get excellent power for a great price with any of the ODE levels. Whichever one fits your budget best would be the one I would recommend. The level 3 seems to be perfect, and is built with really good components that will max out many games. Second off, you're right, building a computer is pretty easy and you could probably make a computer with the same specs for cheaper. However, there are a few main reasons I would suggest buying from Digital Storm: -The warranty: Digital Storm has a standard 3 year warranty on their computers. It is a lot simpler to have one warranty as opposed to one for each individual piece of hardware. The customer service is also incredible. -They build it: Not only does it save you time, but DS only builds high quality computers. There aren't going to be wires all over the place, and they will send you a computer that works. A single mistake building a computer can make the whole project cost a lot more, so buying from DS gets rid of that risk. They also overclock it for you and make sure it's stable so you don't have to worry about that. So if you think that the little amount extra you end up paying is worth the warranty, time saved, quality, and stability guaranteed is worth it, I would recommend Digital Storm.
Also, if you look up individual prices of components, it comes out to be pretty close to the price of the ODE. |

As the person above me said welcome :)
anyhow. For what you need the any ode will easily run WoW on max settings on any raid. IMO a ode level 1 will suit you rather well unless you want to sli your graphics card later on but you can always do a custom build :) In terms of building it yourself. Yes it will always be cheaper. So it is up to you. I added up the cost of a ode level 1 and compared it to buying and building it myself (was a month ago). It game out to about 1300-1350 to build it myself. So in other words I was paying 150 to 200 bucks for them to build it for me, test it out, overclock it to stability, and get a 4 year warranty. Also I know that if I have ANY problems I can come on the forums or call them at any time for help. So its up to you. |

Yep, what DomTheBomb and marccody said.
You can save about 10% or so doing it yourself, and I have done it, but it's nice to know if something goes belly-up I can call DS, with US support, and get the problem identified and the part in the mail the next day. Parts you buy will have their own warranty but one stop fixing is nice. ODE's are best bang for the buck. You could go to a custom config if something about the ODE doesn't hit you but it would be a bit more. Here's a custom config just to play with and see. Config # 729215 Cost $ 1945 Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Corsair Carbide 500R (White Finish) Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) (Requires Z77 Motherboard) Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 (Intel Z77 Chipset) (Features Thermal Armor and Thermal Radar) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 800W Corsair GS (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Force GT Series CSSD-F120GBGT-BK) (SATA 6Gbps) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: ASUS Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer (Play Blu-Ray and Burn DVDs) (Model: BC-12B1ST) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB (Includes PhysX) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 Extreme Performance H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Just for different I put in the white 500R case, but that's changeable. I think DS will use the 600T White if asked for in a custom build. You said you like white, and it is nice, but if you want the best then check out the HafX under Dreadnought. Either of these cases get the job done, however. The 3570k chip is less than the 3770k but all gaming needs. The Sabertooth mobo has a 5 year warranty as opposed to most with 3 year warranty and it can sli, 2x video card, unlike the ODE 3's mobo. The Noctua D14 air coler is huge compared to the Vortex 240mm but it leaves very little to go wrong and works great. the Vortex also works very good and does have a good track record. The gtx 670 is less than the ODE 3's 680 but it is very close in gaming performance, in most cases only a few fps difference. Just something else to check out. The ODE is tough to beat for your budget. Good Luck. Dang

If you do a custom build I highly recommend at gtx 670 or 660ti. Those two are the best bang for your buck currently.

Hi jljjr27,
I am late to the party but please consider this. For $300 dollars more you can get the ODE-4. This will give you the white case, SLI 670s 2Gb, 16Gb of memory and a Blue Ray player DVD burner. Everything else the same as your build. I know you have just places your order and you can still make this change if you have the bucks. Just a thought. Frank |

Thanks for the advice Frank. I need to upgrade my monitor and it will be about the same $300. This set up should last me and I can add another card when the need arises.

Hi jljr27,
The Dell Ultrasharps are really good monitors. I lot of folks here use the U2312HM. Here is a side by side comparison between the U2312HM and the U2412M at Newegg. |
