Budget:
$6500 Expectations: Smoothest gaming experience on highest/ultra settings. Run dual monitors at 1920x1080 but don't plan to span games across both. I expect the system to last a good 6 years. OS will be loaded on the 256SSD, the other 512GB SSD will be all games/steam. Usage: 70% gaming (mmo, fps, moba, rpg, [Steam games as well]), 20% surfing/streaming, 10% photoshop/illustrator work. Special Needs: Fiancee and I have several cats. Office is on a second floor so it gets warm in the summertime. Based on those, we want a system that's quiet, emits little heat, and tries to stave off the feline fur fiasco! Saved Ticket #: 989669 First time going through Digital Storm and definitely wanted to bounce this system off of others before pulling the trigger. Ideally, I really wanted the full on copper pipe custom cooling system and supplemental controls but felt it was pushing the build budget just beyond what I wanted to spend. I'm also not aware of how much maintenance would be involved with a custom cooling setup as I've never had one. I would love to hear some feedback on the build, maybe criticize choices, etc. Thanks and definitely looking forward to the responses. Hi ohlmsjm.... You put together a real nice rig. My only suggestion would be to consider a single gtx 780ti for your 1920x1080 single gaming monitor. The second card will, for the most part, just sit there with nothing to do. As gaming gets more demanding a new generation card in a year or two will keep you on top. 6 years is pushing it with no video card upgrade.
The HydroLux custom water requires little maintenance. Mainly topping off the reservoir as needed and maybe a system flush every couple of year. Pretty simple. Swapping parts during an upgrade or a defective part does get more complicated, however. The H110 you selected is maintenance free and will cool the cpu just fine. Depends on the budget. For dust, cat hair, etc, the best defense is keeping the rig a foot or two off the floor where the dust and fur like to swirl around. If by chance you do drop to a single card, you can also drop the psu to an 850watt. The single card also means less heat output into the room. Stage 1 overclock will give you close performance to stage 2 and also generate less heat. Hope this helps and good luck. The Aventum is a nice setup. Edited by bprat22 - 08 Jun 2014 at 2:18pm |

bprat22 pretty much nailed it all on the head.
There have been some issues in the past regarding the H110 not working with the Aventum II due to the tubing not being long enough. I would recommend switching to either the Noctua cooler or going with a custom loop. Edited by Nav - 08 Jun 2014 at 2:29pm |

Looks like an overall solid build. Regarding dropping to a stage 1 OC, considering you have gone with a custom loop heat won't be an issue and the Devil's Canyon chip can definitely hit 4.5-4.8.

Well you pretty much lose the purpose (exhaust chamber) but you do get one bad-ass looking case

For some reason, as much as I like Noctua, it just doesn't seem to be an Aventum thing.
The latest build looks great.
