DST4ME I wondering if you could take a look at my configuration which is ticket #355399 and tell me what you think. I notice that you help alot of people with there systems on this site and would like your opinion. I play games alot, video editing, photos, and music. I will also be running a 28 inch monitor from either dell or hp. Do you have any advice on a killer monitor for gaming. Thanks in advance. My computer will be in a cabinet so should I upgrade to stage 2 cooling or stay with the stage 1. Also will upgrading to stage 2 help the machine to run quiter if it does not already. Tom

putting your pc in a cabinet will make things run hot, no matter what cooling you get, the heat will be trapped in the cabinet and make the whole case run warmer.
I guess my first recommendation to you is not to keep it there, it can cause all kinds of problem down the road. how much clearance will the 922 have in this cabinet, on top and sides? what res is your monitor going to run? I'm not great for monitor but when shopping for a monitor, look for a monitor that has the same Viewing Angle, both vertical and horizontal, and is at or above 170°, this is a sign of a quality panel on a monitor, assuring great picture quality. I can't tell you what gpus to get unless I now the resolution of the monitor you want to be running with this rig, so narrow down your monitor and then we can figure out the rest from there. First the cabinet is open in the back, but I can put it somewhere else if you think that would be better. there is plenty of room for the 922. The monitor I have right now has a resolution of 1024 x 768. It is a gateway 20 inch monitor which I really like alot. Never had any problems with it so far and have had it for 3 years. I would like to upgrade to a HD monitor later. Hope this is the info that you needed. Tom

The computer you are getting does not just get air through the back like normal comps do. It comes in from all sides except one so that's why we're asking. Restrict air to the front and you block an intake fan, restrict air to the side and you block an intake fan, restrict air to the top and rear and you restrict an outtake fan. Those 2 gpu's and the OC will put off some major heat once they get running full power so we don't want ya frying your computer due to aesthetics or feng shui. LC might help but you'd have to LC the processor and both GPU's to get it where it's viable. Post a pic of the area in the room you want it in, maybe someone can suggest a better spot. The whole area, not just a cabinet shelf. Unless you're not comfy doing that of course.

I have a perfect spot for it. It will be in a wide open area with lots of breathing room which is next to my computer desk. Tom

What is the difference in the special deal and the black ops. Is is the same chassis? Do you think DX11 will be used alot in the future for gaming? If it was you would you choose the 5870 or the 275? Also do I go with two of the 5870s. One more thing. Will this system be alittle noisy and if so how can a make it as quite as possible

black ops have much more customizing options, there is not differenc between blackops haf 922 and buget haf 922.
DX11 should be used in the newer games coming out, but its gonna be a little bit. I would wait for the fermi but if you have to buy now, 1 x 5870 is all you need for 1900 x 1200, you can always add another down the road if the games become more powerful and you see that you need more gpu power. 90% of the noise comes from your gpu's fans, but that is only under load, if you try to dampen the sound and etc, you will also make less airflow and keep the heat more in the case. to come closest to a quiet system you would need LC on cpu/gpu. |

ticket#356109 Hey DST4ME, thats for all the help so far. Could you please look at this build and tell me what you think. I have listen to everthing you have said and this is what I came up with. I want the unit to be expandable in the future, and I also so want it to be as quite as possible. Couple of more questions for you. Is the intergrated sound on the motherboard good or would you upgrade. Is one 5870 better than the 2 275s. I plan on adding another 5870 later. You said they are coming out with a better card soon. Should I wait or would 2 5870s be just as good. I will be willing to wait if you think the card is worth waiting for. Thanks Tom

change cast to haf, you have picked uv tubes, that means you want uv lighting, so chage your light to uv lighting, add "fan only" to the ram, and go with win7 pro.
2 x 275 is better then 5870, but 275 has no dx11 support, and both are meant for 1900 x 1200, and at that res the 5870 will give 50 to 60 fps in most games. nvidia should be coming out with new cards in a couple of month, its gonna beat the 5870, but we don't know by how much, and we don't know the price either. Can't tell you to wait for it or not to be honest, personally I would wait but thats me. I'm not great with sound, but some people have said the on-board sound on these new mobos are pretty good. I payed $800- for a mini stereo because it had 20hz-20,000khz response and walnut speaker cases. Every computer I've ever had, this DS is #13, had a sound card. Sarah in sales talked me into trying out the onboard sound, if it didn't sound good they'd sell me a sound card at thier add on price. I got the system and I have 2 Creative t-40 speakers and the sound is better than any computer I've ever had before! The one thing you'll get with the right sound card that you don't get with mobo sound is EAX but my friends who have these systems and have 5.1, 7.1 and even one lady with 8.1 sound, none of them ever use EAX. My neighbor uses headphones that cost less than his sound card and it sounds like tin cans.
