Budget:
2000-2700 Expectations: 1080p Max settings for gaming Usage: Highest usage will be for gaming, but will be for general usage as well. Fallout, Skyrim, etc. I have the specs down below, but there are some changes I would like to make and your opinions on those changes. RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Second HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX Video Card PSU: Corsair RM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply I'm pretty sure the RAM will be the only thing that needs to be special ordered. I don't want the Corsair Dominator, and the only other option is the DS RAM. Is their RAM just fine? This is my first gaming desktop (i've had several laptops). Am I going overboard a little with some of the options, probably, but for first time desktop I want to get something really nice. Let me know what you guys think about the build and my changes. you can't use that GSkill memory, you need 288-pin DDR4 SDRAM for that motherboard/cpu.
you need more psu wattage for that (Strix) graphics card. it will pull ~450 watts from the wall under load, and the rest of your system will pull ~100 watts, so your optional psu is fine. the EVGA card will pull ~360 watts. on the subject of graphics, you don't need more than a GTX 970 to max out 1080p. Thanks for letting me know! I'll search around for some if not, I'll stick with the 8GB DS RAM. And the GPU, yea I know lol. First build so I'm going big on the gpu. And a little future proof too. I might upgrade monitor as well so would be nice to be ready for that.
Thank you! |
