Things I wasn't sure about: Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Asetek Liquid CPU Cooler (240mm Radiator) (High-Performance Edition) Motherboard: EVGA P55 SLI (Intel P55 Chipset) Any reason to have the Extreme Cooling? Any benefit to upgrading the mobo? Overall impressions? Thanks!!! |

Also, I noticed DS doesn't allow more than 4g, I know for most gaming 4g is fine but I do a lot of vm stuff and I figured 6g-8g would be nice for that. Any way to get that much?

Hey thanks for the reply!
My budget is around $2500 unless I could see something super noticeable for $3000 - and by noticeable I mean stuff for general performance (faster for my photoshop/flex/actionscript/premiere/captivate/3ds max work and not necessarily gaming performance). The resolution to start with will be on a 19" (1440x900), but I may upgrade that to 22" in the near future. That's what I was thinking of spending the remainder ($500) on. I've been changing the specs around http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=360971

the setup DST always offer is good. and looks like he saved ya a bunch of money for your monitor.
try to see if you can go 24" now vs 22"
resolution will be about the same, but 22 just seem so small now a days (to me anyways)
Look for
Max Resolution ms (2-5ms) contrast ratio (not dynamic)
misc
Sound/watt per speaker weight
adjustable height
viewing modes
$236.00 for this is a really good price.
just last year I know 2 people who paid 500 for it @ fry's
with 5850 DST recommended you can just plug in HDMI cable and get audio + video
if you got cable tv, just hook that up too. get to watch tv when not using the pc :) Edited by Kyu - 07 Dec 2009 at 3:19pm |

well now indays most 22" come with 1600 x 1200 res while the 24" come in 1900 x 1200.
the config is set for a monitor with res of 1600 x 1200, if his monitor is gonna have higher res, then he needs to change his gpu from 5850 to 5870. having said all that, if his budget does allow, a 24" (1900 x 1200), with a 5870 would be sweet
I think thats a tn panel, sombody just posted a dell that had 178° viewing angle vertical and horizontal. Edited by DST4ME - 07 Dec 2009 at 3:28pm |
