If there is anything that would be a better choice and also is there anything I can lower a bit to try and get the price down without giving up too much.

Need details on what you want to do with the rig and what resolutions you will be rnning at, Single, Dual or Multi monitors?  Budget window?

but as a generic note, you can drop that down to a i7 920 I believe its the same chip which can be OC'd to the same levels.  Get rid of the stage 2 pseudo water cooling and take the Noctua 12p   OS to Windows Home Professional,  Get rid of the second Optical drive......   

Seriously look at the link in my signature, Ender put together the Optimal systems for most price points....you can get a much better build from there....best bang per buck builds are there.

No reason to get 12GB of RAM if you're only gaming, 6GB is more than enough. 

I'd recommend the ASUS x58 Sabertooth motherboard, Corsair 750w power supply, and Windows 7 Home Premium.
