    Posted: 04 Jan 2011 at 3:30pm

Please advice!

Currently I adored & customized this configuration 475784. I am seeking advice and community knowledge to see if there anything to fit this down to $4000 budget without losing a lot of core configuration.
Also, because there so specification for the casing, is the case going to be the same?  A lot of the picture preview (gallery under customization) show different case.  Currently according the the preview image, the case kinda look like corsair obsidian case with a few mod.

At-last, if there is no possible way, would it be better if I just self build this same configuration for less?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

What resolution are you gonna be gaming at with this pc?

we need to change that config big time, its all messed up, once we know your res we can help you better.

some questions, I see you picked tec liquid cooling, is this pc gonna be one that you will upgrade (add/gpu/hdd/etc) down the road, or is this a type of pc you want to have build here and never touch again as far as changing/adding parts?

Also, does the cooling have to be tec, or can it just be the subzero regular LC system? like this one, this one will look the same as your build as far as case and looks go:

Ticket Number: 475797

That pic of the hailstorm, has got custom fans and etc that is not available in the config page.

Hailstorm = Corsair 800D Obsidian

You can build it yourself and save some money, but building a high end rig, especially one with TEC cooling, and having it fail on you stinks. DS has warranty on their builds, heh.

Thanks for the reply.
This is my current monitor setup.

What resolution are you gonna be gaming at with this pc?
As far as gaming resolution concerns, most game right now run decently on 2x NVIDIA 285 1G on 2048x1152 (Of which I currently have).
I see you removed the 3x graphic with 1x.  I would prefer if it better to atleast 2x to support rendering 7000~24000px image (which currently put me to a cripple sometime. Same for CAD render.)

we need to change that config big time, its all messed up, once we know your res we can help you better.

Sound reasonable what info do you need beside resolution?
Currently running
23" - 3 Screens Screen Size
2048 x 1152 (each); 6144 x 3456 (set) Resolution
5ms Response Time
150,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio

some questions, I see you picked tec liquid cooling, is this pc gonna be one that you will upgrade (add/gpu/hdd/etc) down the road, or is this a type of pc you want to have build here and never touch again as far as changing/adding parts?
No upgrade in 5 years plan, with the exception of HDs.
CPU,GPU,PSU fixed.

Also, does the cooling have to be tec, or can it just be the subzero regular LC system? like this one, this one will look the same as your build as far as case and looks go:
Honestly I never used thermoelectric cooling before, so I wouldn't know much of the different between T.E.C and Subzero Regular LC, care to elaborate?

Ticket Number:
475797
Looking pretty good actually except for the graphic cards tbh (Is that where the 2k gone?)

That pic of the hailstorm, has got custom fans and etc that is not available in the config page.

TEC Cooling will establish an insane overclock as well as sub-zero temperature operation.

Standard LC is basically a heat-exchanger method of cooling with no actual medium cooling applied, but still allows for high overclocks.

All liquid based cooling requires liquid maintenance over time. TEC Cooling is a form of liquid based cooling, it's just LC with a cooling unit(s) strapped to it.

You don't need TEC to get good temps with stage 1 oc, tec is for stage 3 oc and such IMO, I mean its great to have the TEC load temps but you are talking about pullling 800w just for the tec and then you got your psu for the system.

ok so now the promotion is over and none of the ticket numbers we have are working/loading anymore.

OK so how about this:

you can follow my clone guide here

what do you think? with 3 monitors I like to have you have 3 gpus.

I don't understand why all the builds are not working

but I listed the specs so you can see the specs of that build, just duplicate it on the config page. till we figure out what is going on with the tickets.

Yes I don't know what happen.  I think Digitalstorm doesn't have 15% discount anymore.

Thanks DST4ME I like the specs (Love it matter of fact coming pretty close to what I wanted).  I also saw you change the PSU to 1200W and lower the main SSD to 80 gigs.
I am currently running 80 g intel SSD and it's not enough for win7 and 3 pieces of softwares crippling it down to 8gbs free at all time.  All files/cache/pages are stored on separated HDs of course.  I am currently have 12gigs ram and setting pages to 100mb just for default (I don't like disable it).  So I know for sure it ain't cutting with 80gb for me.
*Thanks for cloning guide.  It's pretty detailed and I could definitely use it.

I really want 3 GPUs.  But from the original config, it came out to like 5300+tax.  Perhaps I should wait a bit, you think?  Since Intel new processor line coming out right now - should the price coming down more in like a month or so? same with graphic cards no?

Off topic.  I saw your system.  Crazy beauty.  How much you spend on that beast if I may ask?

Psu is changed to 1200W so later if you want a third card, you can go tri sli, the 1200w supports it easy, with good headroom, but if you are not gonna go tri sli , go with 1000w corsair instead.

if you know that 80GB is not enough then go with 160GB for sure, as mentioned you can always go ssd later.

I have pagefile disabled.

my system was over ten grand after all said and done, thanks for the compliment, I think they all look great if you ask me, they each have their own personality

as for tri sli system, take out the ssd and you get:

its important to balance out all that power with a ssd soon, this way you get your tri sli and instead of waiting for the whole system, you just wait for the ssd, intel gen 3 is gonna come out soon.

the new sandybridge chips are not good for multi gpu setup, it's first powerful chips will be out in Q3 of 2011.

Ok I just made this ticket number like 2 minutes ago and already its not working.

Sorry guys, the New Year Promotion which had the 15% total discount and the free 5 year warranty has expired. The 5 year warranty option is now off the configurator as well.

If you save a configuration without the 5 year warranty and try to load it, it will work.

This one is a bit bigger than its britches on a few counts.

You didnt actually say what you plan to do with this PC, what kind of gaming are you hoping to do?
you expecting to use all 3 of those monitors to game?

A quick FYI if you are looking to game on 3... those monitors are already more than 1920x1080 (obviously) and when you multiply 2048x1152 by 3 monitors... thats 6144x1152 (not 3456 hahaha) which is a HUGE video demand for gaming, you would be crippled trying to run that with 2 GPUs with any decent settings.

If you plan to game on ONE monitor, thats a very different story, so i'll see what you say on that topic

next up is the 5 year deal: it aint gonna happen. doesnt matter what you buy, even up to 8k, youll still be outdated in 3 years, archaic in 5. If 4k is a hardcap for a 5 year budget, i would modify that to a 3 year max, spend less and have the chance to buy again or upgrade.

id hold off on the fancy cooling till you have everything else covered, if you are wanting impressive gaming on those 3 monitors, i dont think LC is in the cards for you. Again, if you want to game on one, that could change... but if we are keeping the 3 year thing in mind, might be better to save some of that cash for some new hardware in a few years

Thank you everyone for advice.
!ender_:
You are absolutely correct 5 years is too optimistic and 3 is very reasonable.
For the usage:
Gaming: Nothing major TERA, FF11, at best.

I want my new PC for majorly rendering 3D CAD and editing very large raw image file.  I am talking about 40,000px ~200,000px 1GB~s CAD Image.
(Normally take like 3~5min just to open the file on my current setup.)
So I definitely need higher GPUs power.

Image editing I would love if it span-able to 3 monitors.  For gaming, one LCD is just fine.

4k is currently cap for spending right now within a 3months span.  If I wait 3 months, I can push the cap up but we talking about now and 3 months.
Are you suggesting I rather wait?

Again thank you all for the good advices.

If you go with my tri sli setup and put in the ssd later there is no reason to wait, however the tri sli is only for tri monitor gaming, if you gonna game on one monitor then dual sli is what you need.

cad and them don't use sli.

in 3 years cpus are gonna be much more powerful so for computing they will offer much better performance, then the chips out today of course.

If it's use is not primarily gaming, but CAD work, the I would get 12 Gb of RAM at a minimum, with the 4Gb sticks you can run 24Gb of RAM, which is what I would get instead of 3 GPU's.
A single GTX 570, or GTX 580, the 580 is a more powerful card, just really overpriced right now.   For CAD work, a SSD, lots of RAM, and a nicely over-clocked 950 would be a great setup
