Here my wife sits unable to do business, I talked her away from a home brewed computer that a friend builds into an Apollo and it wont turn on nothing. paperweight and NO Tech support on weekends. $3400.00 paperweight and I need to listen to my wife now.. I thought D/S was going to start weekend support! I was getting ready to take the plunge for myself. Now I don't know

Hey rmac,

Sorry to hear about the issues with the Apollo, I definitely can understand the frustration (for both of you Smile). I can't speak about the weekend tech support, not sure if they have an ETA on that yet or not.

In the meantime, when you say no power/nothing. Does anything happen when you attempt to power on the machine? Any lights, fans, beeps? Any noise from the PSU at all?

Prior to the last shutdown had there been any issues that you know of?

If absolutely nothing is happening: I know you've probably done all this, but be sure to check the power switch, try re-seating the power cable, and another outlet - all that good stuff that is easy to overlook but always worth a try!

i know it's hard, but take a DEEP breath, and explain the problem in detail if you want "tech support" from the forum community.  if you just want to rant, i can certainly understand the need for that at times, please feel free to ignore this advice.

it would be really helpful to list your system specs in your signature (i wish more people would do so), so that we don't have to waste time asking.

as Tidg said, whenever a power/power distribution issue crops up the first things to check are connections (that includes checking your home outlets by plugging other devices into them to see if they are getting uninterrupted power.

it would be very odd to learn that you had no forewarning, that the last time you/your wife used the comp there was nothing out of the ordinary (no smoke, no burning smell, no power interruption/popping sound/monitor flickering/power on and system startup failures/etc.  did you notice any memory errors leading up to the inability to boot?  are any of the system's fans (case/psu/cpu/graphics cards) working when "powered on"?  how about power to monitor/keyboard/mouse?  any circuit breakers tripped/blown?

Thanks guys I am chilled now, yep checked it all. Went to Best Buy got another PSU of the same working fine now. I know even if Tech was on weekend they could not have gotten a PSU to me before maybe Tuesday if even then, still it would have been nice to talk to someone. Lets see what they do with this old PSU now

Nice, quick fix, rmac.

Power supplies I've changed gave no warning before just going belly-up. Worked great one day and nothing the next powrr up.

What psu is it?   Just curious.

Have fun.

Not sure you'll get a refund but you do have both the DS and manufacturer warranty that should send you a replacement. Might be shipping cost through DS.    Use the replacement, if you go for it, as a backup just in case.

Pc supplies have never giving a hint of why they failed, for me.     Most of the countless dozens I replaced industrially in highbend duplicators didn't either but some did.   Random faults that came and went causing a number of service calls, and agitated customer, would eventually fail and I could smell it when I walked in. Some did smell defore failing and giving the supply and card cage for the circuit boards the sniff test would pinpoint the culprit. Just memories from days gone by.

Glad to hear you got the unit back up and running now. Sorry that you had to go through this. Since you don't need help right away, you can also send an email to "[email protected]" and let us know about the bad power supply. We will most likely have to replace the PSU you have with a working unit. You could keep it as a spare now since you already purchased one from Best Buy, we can't usually give you a cash credit back.

In regards to weekend support, it's in the works, I would say by the end of this year (Q4).

Thanks Alex:
Just got off the phone with DS say they will call tomorrow so the can check for any other damage and further instruction. I don' really expect a cash refund (would be nice) but I would take the spare..

Nice. Awesome

I would've also gone with the extra psu.   Can't have too many parts waiting in the wings to help in troubleshooting and getting the rig up and running.  StrongBig%20Smile
