Here's the article from Anandtech
http://www.anandtech.com/show/3637/quick-look-thermalright-spitfire-vrmr5 Custom card build with custom coolers are really not anything new in the GPU world but this cooler from Thermalright is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Weighing over a pound and costing ~110$ would make most anyone weary when buying something like this but the results of the new cooler are very impressive. This also might be a middle of the road cooling solution for those that want a quite lower cost solution to liquid cooling. * 17c lower Idle temperatures * 39c lower load temperatures * 13db lower noise, article calls the cooler "near silent The only problem besides the cost that I see would be possibly blockage of other slots on the MB, I can't see any pictures from that article on how exactly the new cooler fits the card or how you would manage a XFire or SLI set up, going to dig for some more pictures. This also may be a great solution to keeping the 480 within a reasonable temperature range, any other tech junkies have an opinion on this? |
