Hey all, when updating a motherboard with the most current drivers do you need to load all previous drivers up to the latest or just the latest?

Also, are all the drivers loaded like the Bios through a flash drive image? Can the Bios version be visually identified on the board prior to install? There is a revision 1.02, is that it?

Sorry if these are newbie type questions since I am new to this Mobo update thing. I'm looking to update the bios, chipset, audio and every other driver on my new Asus Sabertooth x79 prior to install.

In my old school experience, it is always a good idea to update in segments. I have, however, just updated to the latest plenty of times without issue.

Regards,

You should use the latest drivers.

Thanks Alex, can you help me figure out why I am having trouble flashing my bios on my Asus Sabertooth X79 Mobo? I'm using the flash function out of the box with just power applied by my PSU. I have downloaded the latest bios number 3102 and renamed to SABERX79.CAP. But, when I attempt to flash the image from my USB flashdrive, the light on the bios button stays on which means it isn't flashing the image to the board. Any suggestions?

The USB flashdrive needs to be formatted using FAT32.

The best utility I ever used to format a USB flashdrive to FAT32 was from HP. They had to take it down from their web site. If I am not mistaken, Microsoft got after them. Any way, do a search for HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8 and you can find it to download.

Hey Jerry, thanks for the comeback. I checked the flashdrive and it says that it is FAT32 in properties. I have another theory though. When I first saved the file on the drive, I saved it in a folder. I have since heard the file must be saved to the root directory which I believe means no folder. Can it be that the Mobo couldn't read the file through the folder?

Correct. The file needs to be in the root which means not in a folder.

Thanks Jerry, that is what I thought. You have a good day and hopefully this project will gain ground now.
