Alex,
I just talked to Kelly and was told to contact you here about shipping my computer to Japan. I know that, for some strange reason, DSO can't ship the computer with the crate to the FPO address, but can I still order and have one shipped via regular shipping box? Mark got back to me yesterday and told me the shipping cost, but now hearing this from Kelly is making me a little nervous that now I may not be able to get a computer from you guys.
Now there is another option. Over here in Japan I heard they do use FED EX, I mean FED EX packages come over here and then a local company picks them up and the delivers it. This maybe an option, also I've seen DHA here. So maybe if sending it through the FPO address won't work, then maybe send it to my japanese address will.
Please let me get some good news,
Brian

Brian, I'm in the same shoes as you being at an APO address. After tons of discussions via email with Mark (great dude), we've decided to go with the crate and FedEx shipping. Granted it cost me about $500 more, it's worth not having to ship a broken computer back and forth from England to Cali. Give them your offbase address and have them figure out shipping there. |

FedEx International Economy shipping isn't that "economic" to overseas addresses. Might be slightly cheaper since it's only going across the Pacific and not across the U.S. then the Atlantic.
Check out FedEx's website on rates with your commercial address. I guess-timated dimensions/weight at 33x14x32/50 Lbs and came up pretty close to what Mark quoted me. The zip code that I used for DSO was 94538.
You have to remember that the crate alone will cost ya $200. Edited by Wallyguitar - 10 Jun 2008 at 6:43pm |

FedEx will be about 3 weeks faster than sending it USPS. Seems like it takes about a month for parcels to arrive via USPS. FedEx quoted me 4-6 days from Cali to England.

Brian,
We can send the package via FPO, but, it cannot go in a wooden crate. They won't accept that type of packaging. It has to be in a cardboard box.
If you wish to send it in a crate, (which we highly recommend for oversea shipments), we can ship it to your Japanese address.
Warm Regards,
Alex
