After reviewing for months going through a final check before purchase.

The unit is mostly for gaming. Titles such as Skyrim (w/ mods), SWTOR, COH2, and BF3.

Upcoming titles BF4 and TW:Rome 2 when released.

Resolution is based on two 24' IPS Dell monitors at 1080p.

Some questions I would like to get answered before final build.

Current ticket: 852783

Windows 7 or Windows 8? I have heard good and bad things. While I like Windows 7 I hear Windows 8.1 will bring the Start function back. Was it really that bad that most skipped Windows 8? Why was Windows 8 so horrid as some described?

My build has two SSD drives. I have the first for OS/Apps for work and school. The second will be used for Games. HHD will be used for storage and library from iTunes. Samsung and Corsair both have 240 and 256GB models for same price. Would Samsung be better deal? I am not familer with the reliability of Samsung.

Currently Geforce GTX 770 (unless you recommend a different card for needs). I plan to SLI in a few months but for budget reasons will have one card now and pop the other one later on.

A link for some information based on their tests on SSD drives.

I believe windows 8.1 is bringing back some of what the start menu did but not all of it.

"Microsoft has brought back the Start button in Windows 8.1 Preview, but instead of launching the old and popular Start Menu, it actually gets users to the new Start screen."

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Users-The-Windows-8-1-Preview-Start-Button-Is-an-Insult-to-Everyone-s-Intelligence-365449.shtml

Basically it seems the button just brings you to the metro Ui which is not what people were asking about.

I would stick with windows 7. It is a solid operating system.

If you like the new metro ui then feel free to switch to windows 8.

The GTX 770 is a great card especially at a nice price for doing SLI.

Yep, can't go wrong with the gtx 770.   Best bang for the buck.

The 780 has more vram, but for your monitor even with Skyrim modded, the 2gb on the 770 is all you need.

Good luck.

Looks like a solid build.
As far as the SSD's go, both are great choices. I chose the Samsung (as I think many of us have) for it's slightly better performance - and when you're building your ultimate gaming rig, it's all about the performance. Plus you get ~8/16GB for FREE.
The 770's are awesome for the price - especially in SLI mode. You won't have any issues running your monitors with that resolution.
Lastly - the Win7 vs Win8 debate. I haven't owned a Windows computer in nearly 6 years (switched to Mac) and decided to go with Win8. It's MS's OS for the future. I feel the benefits of Win8 over Win7 outweigh any UI gripes that I will learn as time goes on. Plus, it's had nearly a year to mature. If you're not afraid of change (and don't have a bunch of old outdated software/hardware), I think it's the more logical choice.

I don't have any personal experience with Windows 8, so I cannot comment on that.

Samsung is considered to have highly reliable SSDs. The Pro models are a bit faster. I expect that the 256GB models have the same amount of memory as the 240GB models, but the 240GB are for consumers who are less likely to go in and adjust the spare space. So, the 256GB models will expect you to designate some amount of the drive as spare. The spare area is used to replace storage area that no longer work. Hard drives have similar functionality, it just hasn't been exposed to consumers to adjust.

I expect you won't have a problem with the 770s in SLI for most games that will released in the near future. You may not get the highest settings at 60FPS, but you shouldn't have to compromise much if at all.

There are third party applications that can restore the start button, if that is the only thing holding you back.
