Hello,

I orignially posted the high-end rig thread and have pretty much decided on a rig.  I will be ordering this today and just want to check for any last minute feedback.

James the sales guy said the following:

RAM - Corsair Dominator DHX was better than the OCZ 1866
PS - Corsair is better than the PC Power & Cooling and the 1000 will be plenty
HD - He recommended the Raid 0
Cooler - Since the 295 is such a new card there is no waterblock for it so I have to go with air cooled.
Enhancements - I went with the LCD temp display so that I can slow down the fans to make the rig more quiet when I sleep --- my existing Alienware is way to loud now and I'm worried about that.
Sound Card - The Razer card is the only one that will fit because the GTX 295s take up too much space.

Thanks for the input.

Depending on how attached you are to the 950Si, you can fit two 295s and a diff vids card into the HAF as far as I know... currently in stage 5 myself with two 295s and an Asus Xonar sound card.

I just ordered mine with 2 295s and a X-Fi card. I am getting the HAF, the 950Si looks nice though, but its always form follows function :D
Why do they blame me for all their little failings? They use my name as if I spent my entire day sitting on their shoulders, forcing them to commit acts they would otherwise find repulsive - Lucifer

I'll be playing at 1920x1200, but may change to 30' at some point.  Either way, I want to max out settings of future games which will demand more GPU power.

I will just be using the sound card to play games and will get a 5.1 system.  Would I even notice a difference between the Razor and Asus or Soundblaster cards?

RAM - Corsair Dominator DHX was better than the OCZ 1866

there is no big difference between OCZ and corsair OCZ has the faster ram so go with the faster ram, the rest if BS, they both come with the same warranty and the corsair at 1600 is not gonna beat the OCZ at 1866, I don't care what anybody says. they both come with the same warranty.

PS - Corsair is better than the PC Power & Cooling and the 1000 will be plenty

actually PC power and cooling has the better/newer 1000w here.

HD - He recommended the Raid 0

raid is a waste of your time and does nothing to improve game play, cause seek time is what is most useful to games and raid does not effect seek time one bit, instead go with a faster drive that has faster seek time, raptor has the fastest and only thing faster then it will be a SSD.

Cooler - Since the 295 is such a new card there is no waterblock for it so I have to go with air cooled.
Enhancements - I went with the LCD temp display so that I can slow down the fans to make the rig more quiet when I sleep --- my existing Alienware is way to loud now and I'm worried about that.

you don't need to LC the GPUs anyways, so forget that.

as for LCD temp controller, it only does 4 things, you will have way more then 4 fans to control, so the LCD is basically not really useful.

also your biggest heat will come from your GPU, and the only thing that will effect it will be its own fans, which you can control the free softwares. so controlling the case fan will have nothing to do with noise level, it will be the GPU fans that make the most noise and you can't turn those down cause you will fry your GPU.

how ever you can just use a freeware like precision rivatuner to just adjust your fans to be at low when you go to bed and the PC is not doing anything intensive.
