Hi there. I was seriously considering getting the ODE but Mother Nature decided to attack and mine wasn't ordered in time. So, now with the black friday sales it seems the others are within my budget range ($2000) I don't really want to go that much over.
I'm now considering this one: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadrenegade.asp?id=614822 I was considering the ODE Level 2. But, it'd end up costing me an additional $150 + price of components to change the lights to green (I don't like red), get the 1 terabyte drive, and the bluray drive. Are there any other suggestions you all have? I'd like to keep everything under $2,400 if possible because I'll be paying $300 in Californian taxes + shipping. Does anyone have other suggestions of builds? My gaming resolution is 1440x900, my price budget is $2,000ish. I use two screens one for game and one for not so I don't need SLI. I live in a high heat zone (California) with 100 degree weather for 5 months of the year, and 80+ for 8 months. For internal lighting or design, my favorite color is green. I expect to be able to play my games without freeze-ups and would like to play on ultra settings. I like to play World of Warcraft mainly, or sometimes Children of the Nile or Dragon Age. Not a fan of fps shooters. I want this computer to last me an easy five years. I like to have a second screen while playing with Netflix on or hulu. I usually keep my computer on for about 12 hours a day. Can't do much else when I'm terminally ill. :) For those of you whom are going to comment about the promobundle, add the prices yourself, you save $1 if you choose them separatly. |

ashkir you have gone with the old platform, we don't recommend that. the 2600k is much more powerful that the 960.
I don't recommend any of those parts, for 2500 you can have the new platform with sli 570 almost, not that you need it but just to say how much more you can get. plus for you res why would you get the 580? what you have done here without realizing it is to put money toward all the things that don't count or you don't want, and taken money away from things that do count and you do want. IMHO ode 2 us pointless for the money it does not bring forth extra performance over ode 1. Edited by DST4ME - 09 Nov 2011 at 1:26am |

I chose ODE Level 2 over Ode Level 1 for the cooling system being better for my area and not all dependent upon fans. And I chose it for the 580 card because it'd would ideally last me longer then the 570. Also, I like the idea of a solid state drive when the previous does not offer it.
What platform do you recommend? These things 2600 960 etc = gibberish for me. |

your are mistaken.
ode 1 has teh better cooling. lc is not better when temps are hot, both lc and air use fans to cool things down, if your room temp is hot, then the fans aer blowing hot air, so lc or not you are going to have temp issues, but in this case teh h60 is inferior to the a70, a70 and noctua are king in cooling till you get to stage 4 lc. 580 would not last you longer then 570, at your res they will both out live the pc itself, but even at 1900 x 1200 difference is unnoticeable. this build is on the x58 platform (look at your mobo) the x58 is the old platform, the newer platform is the p67/68. the x58 uses the 9xx cpus (920/930/950/960/980/990) the p67 uses 2xxx cpus (2600k, 2500k,etc) |

Why does the ODE 1 provide the better cooling? Will it still be the better cooling if the machine is in 80 degree air?
What builds would you recommend, besides the ODE? I want something that can last me 5 years at least. What does h60 mean? what does mobo mean? What does x58 platform mean? Edit: How's this build then? $2,377.00 http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploaddreadnought.asp?id=614844 Or $2,280.00 http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=614868 Edited by ashkir - 09 Nov 2011 at 5:18am |

ode 1 has better cooling cpu cause it uses the a70, at 80f room temperature even if the cpu temp was fine, the gpu temps will be high, probably higher then what is accepted.
h60 is the cpu cooler in ode2 it gets beat by the cpu cooler in ode 1 which is the a70. mobo = motherboard. Each new line of mobo that comes out is called a platform, for example my pc is on x58 platform, the "x58" specifies which model it is, so mine is the x58, the one after that is p67/z68 and the one after that is the one coming out this month the x79. those builds each have problems, didn't I help build a custom config already? cause if you want a pc that will last a long time, you don't want to use some of those parts. |
