The Asetek is a joke, get the Noctua cooler. Noctua will be cooler, quieter, last longer, and help cool other parts of the motherboard. The only drawback to the Noctua is that in shipping it has a higher chance of shipping damage do to its weight. But DS has it pretty well packed, and has minimal issues.

What gives the Noctua advantage over the Cooler Master V8? Most have suggested the V8 in the past.

'most' is the web at large and review sites etc. While not scientific, I try to combine my impression from the various sources for products. V8 certainly gets more mention than Noctua but spec wise, the db's are about 3 less for Noctua so that's good enough for me :)

Do you have the Noctua model number so I can check it out on the Egg?

I believe it is the U12p... do not go off new eggs reviews. lol mostly clueless folk complaining about products that they have no idea how to install/run or how great a product is because they did get it to work. Smile

FWIW the Noctua U12P gets glowing Newegg reviews. I'll keep checking sources as with tonight's snow in Columbus I'm going nowhere. Keep the comments coming...

Alex just posted in General Discussions a bit ago that starting today Digital Storm now carries the Noctua D14! This is the bigger badder brother of the U12P. It cools veeery well even at low fan RPMs so you can get some whisper quite rock awesome air cooling.

But be aware it is very large, only certain motherboards are supported, and it may block your ability to put a RAM fan cooling on your RAM. Here is a compatibility list from Noctua for motherboards.

@iraweiss some of us here are much more experience then the bs responses you read on the web, me and justin are here to clear up exactly that kind of bs.

if me or justin tell you that asetek is bad, don't ask anymore questions, just run, run its a bad gf man

ok no really run but ask as many questions as you like but don't respond back with what you heard on the web, forget that crap.

I would not own an asetek if you bought it and installed it for me at no charge.

I would own a Noctua in a hart beat.

now tell me what resolution you gonna be gaming at and what your budget is and lets fixup that crazyness you call a config, I call that waste of your money.

so lets get you a powerful beast where every dime goes to power and not waste.
