Looks like the AM5 is going to be out in September. We ordered 2 AI Workstations and got them about 5 months ago. Looking at buying 2 more machines with the AM5 and NVidia 4090 once it comes out. Anyone else looking to get this new technology?

I will be getting an AM5 system (probably 12 core) but will be keeping my RTX 3090 EVGA FTW since it more than meets my needs. Replacing my Threadripper 2950X system.

Same here. I will probably wait though until ATX3.0 power supplies and SSD PCI 5.0 drives are available. (and to make sure things like backwards capacitors on ASUS motherboards are not a problem). There is a lot here that can go wrong with so much new tech coming in all at once.

i was waiting/planning on going back to AMD on the AM5 platform but i don't like a couple of things: heat, power, and the cost of their mobos.

i'm now waiting for Intel Raptor Lake, as i can reuse my DD4 memory, and the I5-13600K looks like a better value to me for my usage.

I tend to agree. The i5-13600 looks to be a superb gaming chip with a long lifespan ahead of it.

I try to avoid reading people talking about the new latest & greatest speedy Beasts. It always tempts me to spend more money than I have to upgrade again although I just did last Christmas.

Well, I actually ended up going with an Intel 13700KF... so back to Intel it is. I was just too worried about AMD's instability on new platforms especially with regards to memory. Saved about $400 in the process. I will be moving my RTX 3090 into this system.

nice.  i think i might wait until AMD launches their 7000 series X3D chips (announcement in Jan at CES).  hopefully they lower their prices by then, and depending what price the 7800X3D comes in at, i might build an AM5 config out of it.

the new AMD graphics cards are meant to compete against the forthcoming Nvidia 4080 16GB, but we have nothing to test for comparison.  NVIDIA has no comp against their flagship 4090.  so my build will probably be a mixed AMD/Nvidia job.

Intel 13th Gen is on an end of line socket, and i'll want something i can upgrade over time.

Yeah, I never upgrade processors so that wasn't a concern. My 13700KF is using around 3% while running A Plague Tale Requiem so I don't think I am going to run out of processor power anytime soon. Of course, the 3090 is running maxed out at 100%. Getting around 100 FPS with everything maxed out. ~3K ultrawide resolution.
