The i7 still has the advantage of triple channel memory. I like the dragon platform for AMD cpus tho. I wouldn't mind getting a phenom II x4 940 BE with dragon platform. Liquid cool it and it's competitive with the other intels.
People are running the 9950 BE on a dragon platform and getting OCs of 3.6 GHz with liquid cooling. If the 940 BE has better headroom and starts at a higher clock, I'd expect it to be able to break 4.0 GHz with liquid cooling. To me, that would make one really nice rig. Still not competitive with i7, provided intel has it running well, but plenty for me. |
