i need some new crap. i have posted before in the DS forms abought my video card. this computer is not a DS computer. its a gateway with a 9800gt replaceing a 7650gs.     anyway my computer will lock up playing games, sound loops, there is at least 3 other people experincing this type of issue to the letter.

just to see if you cant help here is the specs

evga 9800gt super clocked   its blue
antec earth wats 500W with 2 rails at 22 amps each
2 gigs of ram and a 500Gig hdd
any help would be apreaceded

back to the main topic.

i was look on neegg for some replacements for every thing execpet the 9800gt (phyx or some thing) and say that AMD has a quad at 3.4 gigs and is way cheaper then the I7.   also they have a gpu that matches or beats the 295 for way less. however the mobo support is lacking.

just to let you guys know that amd and ati rule right now. the i7 and 300 cards might be better but ATI has a 5870X2 on the way really soon that will beat the 300 for way less. i think there out now. im not sure but i do know that they will be out soon.

has anyone heard of a am3 mobo with quad sli at 16x not this 8x bull crap in hte makes

you are mistaken, the 5870 is close to a 295 but does not match or beat it, when the 5890 (5870x2) comes out, it will be only a month or so before the fermi comes out and puts the 5890 and 5870 to shame, so just like last year this time, yes from oct to dec ati might be king, only because nvidia has not released its cards yet, but for the rest of the year nvidia will be king.

You are confused on your card names.

5870x2 "Hemlock", was renamed to 5970,

On the majority of games, with 9.12 CATS the 5870 is faster..another trick up ATI's sleeve. lol
The 5970 NDA lifts the 17th of this month.

Fermi will not be out in a month, and it is very possible that before retailers will have them it will be MARCH.

With this huge epic failure of Nvidia, ATI will have time to have the 5890's ready that for price vs performance, ATI will be the clear winner this round. This is sad for customers, the 5870 was targeted to launch @ $379, and by the end of Nov be @ $349.00  Hemlock was supposed to be released @ $599.00  but instead prices are going up, because of no competition..

5970 sorry.

there is lots of assumptions on your part, we can only wait and see, I doubt that the cards will not be available till march, that would be crazy.

we will have to see how much difference the new cat make.

Nvidia is having lots of problems with Fermi, Use to be a solid Bet Dec hard launch, then Jan, now Feb, but if problems keep arising it will be March, April. And ATI's new CATs 9.12 will add a decent gain on most games. Tongue

I seen few places just a few days ago saying dec still. I have not heard anything about feb or jan yet. I bet you anything just like the 5870 the Fermi will be available between dec to jan

Meow...

I am glad ATI will win this time around, at least for awhile.  Though it kinda sucks the 5970 will be higher than $599.

Yes, Nvidias fail here hurts Nvidia customers, and ATI... The 5970 for $550.00 a month after launch was looking pretty sweet, but not happening now.

DST, from what I know The A2 yields were so poor that they will only be a handfull of cards produced from them, so retaping of the A3 is just now starting, so if the yields are great, and things come together, best chance end FEB, MARCH..

lol i wanted to look at my old posts and i found this quite funny. look where we sit now. AMD is close to lanching the phenom 3 6 core cpu, the 5970 is dominating every thing for only 100 more then a 295 (if they had a better supply it would be at $450 to $500)

i do aggree that they need to get a better supply of there gpus but and the I7 is a little better at gaming but its 1000 for a 3.2 I7 or 200 for a 3.4 AMD.

that meanns that 800 you save can go into water cooling witch means you can overclock and beat a i7 for less money.

NV and intel just got PWNT

that's why most gamers would buy an i7-920 and overclock it instead of going for the highest cpu speed. even my i7 was oc'd to 3.8 ghz (on air cooling by DS) and this beats the i7-975, which is $1000.

if i'm not mistaken, the cpu speeds between intel and amd are not the same. 3.4 ghz amd is not the same as that of a 3.4 ghz i7. if it was, well amd would be probably the best in the market right now considering the price factor.

lol ya pay $200 for a 920 and oc it and get much faster then amd with much better performance.

their cpu speeds are the same but performance is not.

the 6 core amd is a server chip while the 6 core intel coming out is an extreme chip and a desktop chip.
